Isaiah 42 – 44

Isaiah 42

A prophecy of Jesus Christ [Hebrew: Yeshua] and his physical life.

42:1 Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles. 42:2 He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street. 42:3 A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth. 42:4 He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.

The Creator declares that he will come and give life to humanity through his sacrifice for sin.

42:5 Thus saith God the LORD [YHVH], he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:

The Messiah shall establish a New Covenant (Jer 31:31) with the people

42:6 I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles; 42:7 To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.

Jesus Christ [Yeshua] is a jealous God who will not tolerate his people committing spiritual adultery with any other god and idol.

42:8 I am the LORD [YHVH]: that is my name [YHVH is a collective name for the family of Elohim meaning: The Eternal Self Existing Mighty Ones (Family) of God]: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.

The One who gave up his God-hood to become flesh as Jesus Christ; proclaims what will be before it comes, so that we shall all know his wisdom, power and glory. So that we will be humbled before and acknowledge his sovereignty.

42:9 Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them.

When he comes all shall repent after the armies of the wicked are destroyed and the nations shall sing of the glory of the King of kings.

42:10 Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof. 42:11 Let the wilderness and the cities thereof lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar doth inhabit: let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains.

Let all peoples glorify and live by every Word of God.

42:12 Let them give glory unto the LORD, and declare his praise in the islands [the term islands is often a metaphor for all countries outside of Israel/Judea].

When he comes to put down Satan and all false teachings [doctrines] and wickedness the glorified Jesus Christ shall roar like a mighty lion roars over his prey and the nations shall shake in fear because of their iniquities.

42:13 The LORD shall go forth as a mighty man, he shall stir up jealousy like a man of war: he shall cry, yea, roar; he shall prevail against his enemies.

When Christ comes after his long patience with sinful rebellious humanity he shall thunder his presence in mighty power.

42:14 I have long time holden my peace; I have been still, and refrained myself: now will I cry like a travailing woman; I will destroy and devour at once.

Christ shall bring down the governments [mountains and hills] of this world and give them to the zealous for the righteousness of living by every Word of God, and they will rule with justice and equity.  Messiah shall destroy the rivers of men [armies] and dry up the strength of the nations.

42:15 I will make waste mountains and hills, and dry up all their herbs; and I will make the rivers islands, and I will dry up the pools.

When he has mankind’s attention, he will preach sincere repentance and the righteousness of the Word of God, and deliver humanity from their slavery to Satan, the Pharaoh of this world.

42:16 And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.

Humanity will repent in mass and turn away from their false gods and false teachings to the sound doctrine of Jesus Christ; which is to live by every Word of God.

42:17 They shall be turned back, they shall be greatly ashamed, that trust in graven images, that say to the molten images, Ye are our gods.

God’s Spirit will be poured out on all flesh and all eyes and ears shall be opened to see, hear and understand the doctrines of righteousness; the whole Word of God.

42:18 Hear, ye deaf; and look, ye blind, that ye may see.

Messiah refused to see or hear evil in his physical life; he refused to judge or condemn the people; for he was sent to save and not to destroy.

42:19Who is blind, but my servant? or deaf, as my messenger that I sent? who is blind as he that is perfect, and blind as the LORD’s servant? 42:20 Seeing many things, but thou observest not; opening the ears, but he heareth not.

When Christ came he magnified the law explaining its intent and spirit as well as the letter; and making the law complete and beyond reproach, holy and good, and doubly binding; engraving it on the hearts and in the minds of the New Covenant called out. And when he comes again he will extend that New Covenant to all Israel and to all flesh as all humanity repents and is grafted into Israel.

Jeremiah 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the Lord:

31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the Lord: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

31:35 Thus saith the Lord, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The Lord of hosts is his name:

The teachings and commandments of God the Father and Jesus Christ are eternal, they will be binding forever!

31:36 If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the Lord, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever.

Jesus Christ magnified the law of God by adding its spirit and intent to the letter.

Isaiah 42:21 The LORD [YHVH] is well pleased for his righteousness’ sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honourable [HOLY and Spiritual].

Judah and Israel went into captivity and will go through the tribulation for their rebellion against the doctrines and commandments of Jesus Christ and the Father.

42:22 But this is a people robbed and spoiled; they are all of them snared in holes, and they are hid in prison houses: they are for a prey, and none delivereth; for a spoil, and none saith, Restore.

Who will take note of this and learn that the Eternal corrects the wayward and rebellious? Who will repent and turn to Christ BEFORE he needs to be corrected in great tribulation?

42:23 Who among you will give ear to this? who will hearken and hear for the time to come? 42:24 Who gave Jacob for a spoil, and Israel to the robbers? did not the LORD [YHVH], he against whom we have sinned? for they would not walk in his ways, neither were they obedient unto his law.

Let us take to heart the lessons of past history and trust in our God, turning to him in zealous faithful loyal obedience. Christ has poured out his fury on the wicked in the past and he will do so to the wicked of the whole earth in the very near future.

42:25 Therefore he hath poured upon him [Israel and the wicked] the fury of his anger, and the strength of battle: and it hath set him on fire round about, yet he knew not; and it burned him, yet he laid it not to heart.

Isaiah 43

In this section Isaiah refutes the Unitarian [One God] heresy; declaring the God of Moses [YHVH] to be the Creator, who became Jesus Christ the Redeemer of the repentant.

These chapters are also an indictment of Judah and Israel both physical and spiritual for their sins; and announce deliverance for the sincerely repentant.

Israel is chosen by God as a type of spiritual Israel who are redeemed by the sacrifice of the Lamb of God; just as physical Israel was protected from death in Egypt by the Passover lambs. Physical Israel is a type of spiritual Israel.

Isaiah 43:1 But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.

43:2 When thou passest through the waters [the peoples of the earth], I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee [the rivers (armies) of enemies]: when thou walkest through the fire [in trial and tribulation the faithful will be delivered], thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

The Holy One is the Saviour of all those who put their trust in him. Christ will destroy all the unrepentant  wicked as he destroyed Egypt, for ancient Egypt was a type of Satan the god-king of this world and all sin.

43:3 For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.

When Israel realizes that she has been corrected and repents; Messiah the Christ shall come to destroy the oppressors and shall deliver his people; first spiritual Israel and then physical Israel a few days later.

43:4 Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.

As Christ raises up his faithful dead from across the world; he will also gather physical Israel from around the world and bring them back to the land of promise.

43:5 Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west; 43:6 I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth;

All the repentant who are called by the name of our Mighty One shall be delivered.

43:7 Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.

Christ will open the eyes and ears of the spiritually blind to understand the Word of God

43:8 Bring forth the blind people that have eyes, and the deaf that have ears.

All nations that survive shall know that Messiah the Christ is the Eternal Mighty One of Noah and Abraham.

43:9 Let all the nations be gathered together, and let the people be assembled: who among them can declare this, and shew us former things? let them bring forth their witnesses, that they may be justified: or let them hear, and say, It is truth. 43:10 Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.

Why do we trust in men and corporations and in false teachings; when the Eternal is God?

43:11 I, even I, amthe LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.

Jesus Christ shall destroy the false god’s and reveal that he is God indeed.

43:12 I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, that I am God.

Before creation Jesus Christ was; for he was the Implementing Creator of the Executive Will of God the Father

43:13 Yea, before the day was I am he; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let [hinder or stop the will of the Creator] it?

Now Isaiah clearly reveals that YHVH the Creator became Jesus Christ.

43:14 Thus saith the LORD [YHVH, your redeemer [who redeems the people from sin and reconciles them to God the Father], the Holy One of Israel;

The armies of the New Europe [Babylon] will be brought down to destruction at Jerusalem for the sake of Christ’s promises to the ancients; the father’s of physical and spiritual ]Abraham the father of the faithful] Israel.

For your sake I have sent to Babylon, and have brought down all their nobles, and the Chaldeans, whose cry is in the ships.

YHVH the God of Moses and our Redeemer is called the Creator

43:15 I am the LORD [YHVH], your Holy One, the creator of Israel, your King.

Jesus Christ the Messiah is again called the YHVH who led Israel through the Red Sea, and destroyed the Egyptians.

43:16 Thus saith the LORD [YHVH], which maketh a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters; 43:17 Which bringeth forth the chariot and horse, the army and the power; they shall lie down together, they shall not rise: they are extinct, they are quenched as tow.

YHVH will do a new thing, delivering Israel once again, and making a path through the nations to the land of promise.

43:18 Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.

Christ will give rivers of physical water and the spiritual waters of the Holy Spirit of life when he comes.

43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. 43:20 The beast of the field shall honour me, the dragons [jackels] and the owls: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen.

Jesus Christ called Israel to be an example of godliness for all nations; and she shall finally fulfill her purpose in the Kingdom of God.

43:21 This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise.

Physical and spiritual Israel has rebelled greatly against the teachings and commandments of their God; therefore she will be corrected.

43:22 But thou hast not called upon me, O Jacob; but thou hast been weary of me, O Israel.

Israel including spiritual Israel has turned away from God to their own ways.

43:23 Thou hast not brought me the small cattle of thy burnt offerings; neither hast thou honoured me with thy sacrifices. I have not caused thee to serve with an offering, nor wearied thee with incense.

Israel [especially spiritual Israel of the Ekklesia who are supposed to know better] has not served God but has followed other paths

43:24 Thou hast bought me no sweet cane with money, neither hast thou filled me with the fat of thy sacrifices: but thou hast made me to serve with thy sins, thou hast wearied me with thine iniquities.

If we will sincerely wholeheartedly repent, our sins will be blotted out and we will find mercy.

43:25 I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins. 43:26 Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified.

Israel’s leaders and leading men; are full of sin against Christ; especially the church of God groups who are supposed to know better

43:27 Thy first father hath sinned, and thy teachers have transgressed against me.

Israel shall go into captivity for all their transgressions; along with the elders and leaders of spiritual Israel [the princes of the sanctuary].

43:28 Therefore I have profaned the princes [priests, ministry] of the sanctuary, and have given Jacob to the curse, and Israel to reproaches.

Isaiah 44

Isaiah 44 is an indictment against the idolatry of physical and spiritual Israel and gives the reasons for the imminent great tribulation. The chapter also prophesies of the deliverance of Israel in the latter days.

Wiki: Jeshurun ((Hebrew: ישְֻׁרוּן , ), in the Hebrew Bible, is a poetic name for Israel. Derived from root word meaning upright, just, straight. Jeshurun appears four times in the Hebrew Bible — three times in Deuteronomy and once in Isaiah. It can mean the people of Israel (Deut. 32:15; 33:26), the Land of Israel (Deut. 33:5;), or the Patriarch Jacob (whom an Angel renamed Israel in Genesis 32:29) (Isa. 44:2).

Rabbi Aha bar Jacob told that the breastplate of the High Priest (or Kohen Gadol) contained the words “The tribes of Jeshurun,” thus supplying the otherwise missing Hebrew letter tet in the word “tribes.” (Babylonian Talmud Yoma 73b; see also Exodus Rabbah 38:9.)

In Isaiah 44:2 Jeshurum refers to Jacob as being upright. He certainly made his mistakes but he was quick to repent and be zealous for God

Isaiah 44:1 Yet now hear, O Jacob my servant; and Israel, whom I have chosen: 44:2 Thus saith the LORD [YHVH] that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, which will help thee; Fear not, O Jacob, my servant; and thou, Jesurun, whom I have chosen.

Water is here defined as the Holy Spirit as Jesus would later teach in his ministry (John 7:38-39).

44:3 For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring:

As physical water causes the grass to grow; the spiritual water of God’s Spirit – given to all those who obey the Word of God – brings much spiritual growth

44:4 And they shall spring up as among the grass, as willows by the water courses.

All nations shall repent and cleave in zeal to the LORD, and all peoples shall look up to Israel and no longer despise her.

44:5 One shall say, I am the LORD’s; and another shall call himself by the name of Jacob; and another shall subscribe with his hand unto the LORD, and surname himself by the name of Israel.

The God of Jacob and Moses is proclaimed the Creator; Jesus Christ the beginning and the end

Revelation 1:8  I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

Isaiah 44:6 Thus saith the LORD [YHVH] the King of Israel, and his [R] redeemer the LORD [YHVH] of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.

Who is like Christ?

44:7 And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them shew unto them.

Those that trust in the Eternal to learn of him and live by every Word of God need not fear; they need not fear even death, for he will keep his promises and raise up those zealous for all God’s ways.

44:8 Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no [other] God; I know not any.

Those who trust in idols including men and corporate churches above the Word of God shall be ashamed and come to nothing.

44:9 They that make a graven image are all of them vanity; and their delectable things shall not profit; and they are their own witnesses; they see not, nor know; that they may be ashamed.

Those who exalt men and corporations above the Word of God shall be ashamed in that day when they are corrected and judged.

44:10Who hath formed a god, or molten a graven image that is profitable for nothing? 44:11 Behold, all his fellows shall be ashamed: and the workmen, they are of men: let them all be gathered together, let them stand up; yet they shall fear, and they shall be ashamed together. 44:12 The smith with the tongs both worketh in the coals, and fashioneth it with hammers, and worketh it with the strength of his arms: yea, he is hungry, and his strength faileth: he drinketh no water, and is faint.

44:13 The carpenter stretcheth out his rule; he marketh it out with a line; he fitteth it with planes, and he marketh it out with the compass, and maketh it after the figure of a man, according to the beauty of a man; that it may remain in the house. 44:14 He heweth him down cedars, and taketh the cypress and the oak, which he strengtheneth for himself among the trees of the forest: he planteth an ash, and the rain doth nourish it.

Our idols are made to be destroyed. Even so the false tin gods of the corporate Ekklesia that we have put our trust in; will be destroyed. Why do we not put our trust in the Word of God and the Holy One of Jacob and all his teachings [doctrines] and commandments?

44:15 Then shall it be for a man to burn: for he will take thereof, and warm himself; yea, he kindleth it, and baketh bread; yea, he maketh a god, and worshippeth it; he maketh it a graven image, and falleth down thereto. 44:16 He burneth part thereof in the fire; with part thereof he eateth flesh; he roasteth roast, and is satisfied: yea, he warmeth himself, and saith, Aha, I am warm, I have seen the fire: 44:17 And the residue thereof he maketh a god, even his graven image: he falleth down unto it, and worshippeth it, and prayeth unto it, and saith, Deliver me; for thou art my god.

An idol is nothing but the creation of our own hands or minds. To exalt any man or group and obey them instead of living by every Word of God is idolatry. To go and say that we do something because “the church says it is alright” is to place our salvation in the hands of our idols is a sin to damnation.

WE must prove out all things and then DO only what the scriptures teach

44:18 They have not known nor understood: for he hath shut their eyes, that they cannot see; and their hearts, that they cannot understand.

None considers his relationship with the Creator; as each does according to his own thoughts and not according to the Word of God; and then they claim to be godly as they do that which their corporate idols teach, which is often that which is condemned by God!

44:19 And none considereth in his heart, neither is there knowledge nor understanding to say, I have burned part of it in the fire; yea, also I have baked bread upon the coals thereof; I have roasted flesh, and eaten it: and shall I make the residue thereof an abomination? shall I fall down to the stock of a tree?

A person who does not prove all things by the Word of God and discern to reject the evil and accept the good; will be deceived by false teachers.

44:20 He feedeth on ashes: a deceived heart hath turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not [he cannot admit to falsehoods] a lie in my right hand [he who does not rely on the Word of God cannot discern between false teachings (Lies) and the truth of God]?

Remember the Word of God

In the final judgment the unrepentant wicked who are not zealous for the Word of God shall be burned up and become ashes under the feet of all those who do live by every Word of God.

Malachi 4:1 For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.

4:2 But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.

4:3 And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the Lord of hosts.

4:4 Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments.

Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb [Sinai] for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments; and remember and keep all the teachings and commandments of our Creator Jesus Christ and live by every Word of God the Father.

Jesus Christ will not hold back from correcting  physical and spiritual Israel if they go astray, or to reward and save them when they sincerely repent.

Isaiah 44:21 Remember these, O Jacob and Israel; for thou art my servant: I have formed thee; thou art my servant: O Israel, thou shalt not be forgotten of me.

When we learn the lessons that God requires; then we shall repent and he shall blot out our sins.

44:22 I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.

44:23 Sing, O ye heavens; for the LORD hath done it: shout, ye lower parts of the earth: break forth into singing, ye mountains [nations, governments], O forest, and every tree [every person] therein: for the LORD hath redeemed Jacob, and glorified himself in Israel.

Again the God of Moses is YHVH who is declared to be the Redeemer [Jesus Christ the Lamb of God] of the repentant.

44:24 Thus saith the LORD [YHVH] , thy [R]redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself; 44:25 That frustrateth the tokens of the liars, and maketh diviners mad [with confusion and frustration] ; that turneth wise men backward, and maketh their knowledge foolish; 44:26 That confirmeth the word of his servant, and performeth the counsel of his messengers; that saith to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be inhabited; and to the cities of Judah, Ye shall be built, and I will raise up the decayed places thereof:

44:27 That saith to the deep, Be dry, and I will dry up thy rivers: 44:28 That saith of Cyrus, He is my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure: even saying to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be built; and to the temple, Thy foundation shall be laid.
