Speaking the Truth in Love

Hebrews 10

The Mosaic sacrificial law which allowed the physical high priest access to the Most Holy Place only once a year and with only physical sacrifices; could not make the people perfect before God.

Heb 10:1 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect. 2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.

The physical sacrifices existed to bring remembrance sins and to foreshadow that perfect sacrifice of the Creator to be brought into the Father by the High Priest of the New Covenant of Jer 31:31.

3 But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year. 4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.

God the Father has no pleasure in sacrifices that cannot effect atonement for sin and bring true reconciliation of the repentant with Himself. Therefore God willed that an effectual perfect New Covenant and sacrifice replace the ineffectual Mosaic Covenant and its physical sacrifices.

The end of sin can only come through the application of the ultimate sacrifice of the Creator; reconciling the people to God the Father after sincere repentance, and a commitment to sin no more through the power of the Holy Spirit.

5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me: 6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.

Therefore the Creator gave up his God-hood to be made flesh and die to remove sin, according to the will of God the Father, who wills that a New Covenant be established with a perfect sacrifice; to do away with sin and reconcile the sincerely repentant of humanity to himself.

7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.

To take away all sin, and reconcile the repentant to God required the New Covenant promised in Jer 31:31; which required a perfect sacrifice and the gift of God’s Holy Spirit to write the law on the hearts and in the minds of the sincerely repentant.

8 Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law [God does not desire the physical Mosaic sacrifices which cannot effect reconciliation, but desires the better sacrifice]; 9 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first [The Mosaic Covenant and its sacrifices is ended, so that the New Covenant with its perfect sacrifice can be established], that he may establish the second.

10 By the which will [by God the Father’s will] we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

Because the sacrifice of Christ was perfect and complete [because the life of the Creator is worth more that all that he created]; Christ needed to die only once to atone for all sin; although his sacrifice needs to be applied to the repentant as they sincerely repent of sin.

11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: 12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; 13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.

10:14 For by one offering [one sacrificial death of himself] he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified [He has atoned for the sins of all who sincerely repent and commit to sin no more, and set them apart [sanctified] to reconciliation with God the Father] .

The whole Word of God is written on our hearts and in our minds through the agency of God’s Holy Spirit, the very nature of God given to dwell in us.

15 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before, 16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; 17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

Once we have sincerely repented and committed to sin no more with a baptismal commitment; the atoning sacrifice of Christ is applied to us and we may receive the Holy Spirit, which if we follow it, will lead us into the truth {God’s Word is Truth] and empower us to learn and grow in godliness and to overcome sin.

18 Now where remission [remission of sin by the application of the New Covenant sacrifice of Christ] of these is, there is no more [need of physical sacrifices for sin] offering for sin.

After the Hebrews study is complete I plan to do an article on the millennial physical sacrifices, and the millennial physical Levitical service.

After sincere repentance and a baptismal commitment to sin no more, we are reconciled to God the Father and may enter into His presence beyond the veil of sin that had separated us from Him.  That veil being removed by the sacrifice of the fleshly body of Jesus Christ  the Creator.

19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 By a new and living way [New Covenant] , which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; 21 And having an high priest over the house of God; 22 Let us draw near [near to God the Father in all things, forsaking all sin] with a true [faithful and pure] heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled [by the sacrificial blood of Christ] from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water [washed clean by the spirit by keeping the whole Word of God].

Eph 5:25  . . . even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;  26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

We are to hold fast to our baptismal commitment to sin no more, and cleave with all our minds and spirit and body, to our passionate zeal to learn and keep the whole Word of God!.

Heb 10:23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) 10:24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together [Not assembling withy just anyone but assembling with the true faithful to the whole Word of God], as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

If we lose our zeal to keep the whole Word of God and become spiritually lazy, following any man or temptation away from our Mighty Deliverer; and begin to justify our sins instead of immediately repenting from any sin we find in ourselves; we are searing our conscience, quenching God’s Holy Spirit and are in danger of the judgment of eternal death.

26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, 10:27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

28 He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: 10:29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the [New] covenant [the sacrifice of Christ], wherewith he [the sinner was first forgiven and Set Apart from sin] was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

Brethren, those who teach that upon baptism we enter a state of grace where we need not be zealous to keep the whole Word of God; are IGNORANT or LYING; Baptism is a commitment to “Go and sin no more”  not a licence to situation ethics and any willful sin.

30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.

31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God [because of any willful self justified sin].

Brethren,  let us remember our great joy in God’s Word when our minds were first opened to His Light!  Let us return to our first zeal to search out and accept all things of God!  Let us seek to regain our love of the Truth and our zeal to root out all error and sin!

Dear Brethren;  Where has the love of the truth gone that our leaders are unwilling to even look at the truth of the Biblical Calendar, or if they do look tell open lies about the subject to maintain their now obviously false traditions?  Where is our love of the truth when we reject or spin whole sections of scripture so that we can call the Sabbath holy as we pollute it by doing our own pleasures on God’s time?

Let us return to a passionate zeal to learn and to keep the whole Word of God; resisting all deceptions and temptations and enduring all trials for the holiness of God the Father, ruler of the universe.

Where are the Daniels and his three friends today; who would endure all things for the whole Word of God?

Dan 3:16  Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful [afraid] to answer thee in this matter.

17 If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.

18 But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

Today we worship the golden image of a man, a human idol; and we worship idols of men, obeying their words and having no zeal or love of God to search and hold fast to the whole Word of God!  We are full of love and zeal for men and organizations of men; yet there is almost no zeal to keep the whole Word of God, above the words of men!  Truly it is written that in the last days the love of many [for the whole Word of God]  shall wax cold.

32 But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were [When our minds were first opened to the Light of God’s Word] illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions; 33 Partly, whilst ye were made a gazingstock both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, whilst ye became companions of them that were so used.

In the beginning the newly converted loved the truth that Paul taught even when he was imprisoned, and gave joyfully to help him in his mission.

34 For ye had compassion of me in my bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves that ye have in heaven a better and an enduring substance. 35 Cast not away therefore your confidence [faith in God’s promises] , which hath great recompence of reward.

Let us learn and keep the whole Word of God with zealous patience and we shall have a good reward.

36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.

Our Lord is now coming very soon, in the sense that we could die this day.  Therefore be always ready and full of enthusiasm for the whole Word of God.

37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.

38 Now the just shall live by faith [with the deeds of faith]: but if any man draw back [from the works of faith and his zeal for learning and keeping the whole Word of God], my soul shall have no pleasure in him [Nor will God take any pleasure in anyone who turns aside from the works of faith; such a person will receive the same judgment from God as those who had wanted to turn back into Egypt].

Those who turn aside from zeal for the whole Word of God to follow idols of men, or succumb to trials and temptations are consigned to judgment if they do not sincerely repent.

Those who believe the promises of God and are full of faith and the works of faith, which is the zealous keeping of the whole Word of God and following our LORD with passionate loyalty; will be saved from sin and receive the reward of entry into the Promised Land of eternal life.

Our High Priest and our loving Father speaks to us saying: Be strong my son, be strong and persevere!

10:39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
