When God originally set our earth, moon and sun cycles in motion it was a perfect 12 thirty day months in each solar year, which solar year was exactly 360 days long.
Early civilizations around the world used calendars with months of 30 days and years of 360 days. These calendars functioned well until sometime in the 8th century BC when suddenly it became necessary to change them. Then most civilizations around the world began to modify their calendars to allow for 5 extra days for the year and 6 fewer days for a lunar year of 12 full months; a modern lunar year is 354 days (12 months x 29.5 days).
The number of days in a year change was marked by the second King of Rome, Numa Pompilius, and by his Jewish contemporary, King Hezekiah. Later other civilizations adopted the new 365 day year as well. These events are often linked with the shadow on the sundial going back 10 degrees in the days of Hezekiah around 700-750 BC.
From the creation of man, or at least from mans expulsion from the garden, all years began in the autumn and the autumn is quite likely the time that man was expelled from the garden.
Then when God decided to call a people out from Egypt as an instructional allegory that God was calling both an early – represented by the calling out of bondage in Egypt – and a later harvest of humanity; he commanded them to begin their new year in the spring thus dividing the called out people early harvest of lives from the main bulk of mankind by the month that they began their years.
The majority of mankind begin their years in the autumn [today the modern anti biblical Roman January system is now accepted by most] when the main harvest of humanity is represented by the main harvest Festivals; and the early called out of bondage in Egypt as a type of the calling out of an early harvest of humanity begin their months in the spring, being represented by the spring Festivals.
Ignoring the modern Roman January system; God had established an autumn to autumn system for humanity and later gave his special called out from bondage people a new calendar beginning in the spring.
It is self evident that God was establishing a difference between the spring and fall Festivals as representing two different harvest of humanity: An early small spring harvest of those specifically called out of bondage to sin represented by the spring harvest in Palestine and spring biblical Festivals; and a later much larger main large harvest of humanity represented by the main fall harvest and fall Festivals.
Thus a calendar change from beginning the year in the fall like the other nations; to starting the year in the spring for those called out of bondage in Egypt – as an example of a spiritual early calling out of a few, -was in keeping with the whole intent that the deliverance from bondage in Egypt be an allegory of the calling out of a few from bondage to Satan and sin as an early spiritual harvest of humanity.
The early spring Holy Days – including a spring new year – prefiguring a small early harvest of of lives, and the fall Holy Days – including an autumnal new year – prefiguring a main fall harvest of humanity.
Pentecost; the Jubilee of Days
We are commanded to begin a count of seven Sabbaths from the end of the Sabbath and the beginning of the first Sunday after the first weekly Sabbath during the Feast of Unleavened Bread to complete seven weekly Sabbaths or a total of 49 days; and the day after the seventh Sabbath – for the entire fiftieth day – is the High Holy Day of the Feast of Pentecost.
Notice that this was a command direct from the Creator given to physical Israel through Moses the Mediator of the Mosaic Covenant.
We determine the weekly Sabbath by counting six days beginning on Sunday the first day of the week; Sunday 1, Monday 2, Tuesday 3, Wednesday 4, Thursday 5, Friday 6, and then Saturday the Seventh day is the weekly Sabbath [Friday sunset to Saturday sunset].
When we count to Pentecost we count the same way, beginning the count at the very start of the first day of a week [Sunday] as day 1, and then count that week through to the Sabbath ending that week as ONE Sabbath.
We are commanded to count seven complete fulfilled Sabbaths; 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7, which completes seven Sabbaths or seven weeks of seven days to total 49 days. Then on the fiftieth day, the day after day forty-nine or the seventh Sabbath – on the fiftieth day all day long is the Feast of Pentecost!
On the Feast of Pentecost at Sinai, the law was written on tables of stone, and in 31 A.D. the law of God was officially written on the hearts of flesh of the small number of the spiritually called out!
In a near future Pentecost beginning the millennial Kingdom of God, the law of God will be written on the hearts of all mankind then living. This will begin with the New Covenant being extended to all Israel and will be extended to all humanity as all mankind then living, which will be grafted into millennial Israel and the new and spiritual covenant with Christ.
Jeremiah 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the Lord:
31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the Lord: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
Jeremiah was not alone for Ezekiel wrote the word and promise of God saying:
Ezekiel 11:17 Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord God; I will even gather you from the people, and assemble you out of the countries where ye have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel. 11:18 And they shall come thither, and they shall take away all the detestable things thereof and all the abominations thereof from thence.
11:19 And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh: 11:20 That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.
The Pentecost pouring out of the Holy Spirit in 31 A.D. was about the giving of the Holy Spirit to the early called out in an official and public manner; writing the Word of God on the hearts of the called out through the gift of the Holy Spirit and fulfilling the promise of the New Covenant in part.
Soon on a near future Pentecost the Holy Spirit of the New Covenant will be poured out on all Israel and upon all flesh; extending the calling out to all mankind still living on that future Pentecost, writing the Word of God on the hearts of all mankind still living and establishing the Kingdom of God (Joel 2:27-28).
All of those given the Holy Spirit during the millennium [after the resurrection to spirit of an early few] are also first fruits; for the seventh day is still part of the same week of first fruits!
During the millennium all then living humanity will be called out to God and have God’s Spirit poured out on them, writing the Word of God on their hearts; thus completing the full seven thousand year harvest of first fruits. Then after the millennium, comes the main harvest.
Leaven is a type or picture of sin.
Leviticus 23:16 unto the morrow after the seventh Sabbath, you shall number 50 days; and you shall offer a new offering. And you shall bring out of your habitations two wave loaves of two tenth deals; they shall be of fine flour; they shall be baked with leaven.
Leaven in these two Pentecost loaves demonstrates the presence of sin, which requires an atonement, with a sin offering.
The two loaves picture an increase from the one loaf made without any leaven, representing the perfect Lamb of God at Wave Offering, to two loaves at Pentecost which represent the people having sinned and in need of an atonement for sin.
It wasn’t necessary to have hundreds or thousands or millions of loaves added to represent everybody. Instead the two loaves give the picture of increase.
23:21 and you shall proclaim on the selfsame day[which is the 50th day, a Sunday]; that it may be a holy convocation unto you: you shall do no servile work therein. [the word servile means no work of any kind]. It shall be a statute forever in all your dwellings throughout your generations.
The offering of these two loaves, the special lifting up and bringing back down of these two loaves, made with the leaven representative of sin; was to take place on the 50th day after the first unleavened Wave Loaf representing Christ was raised up.
The 50 day is the first day after 49; 49 being seven times seven is a complete, absolutely complete period of time; and fifty pictures a NEW Beginning. The 50th day then meant a new beginning for mankind. And access to repentance and the Holy Spirit for all humanity during the Millennial Sabbath of rest.
Now notice the atoning sin offering sacrifice, which was offered in conjunction with these two loaves. At this time the people’s sins being represented by the leaven, are covered by the sin offering made on behalf of both of the loaves.
Pentecost represents an increase of the New Covenant first fruits during the Millennium for it is written in Leviticus 23:17, the last line, “this is the first fruits unto the Lord.”
The two loaves represent an increase in the New Covenant calling and writing of the Word of God on the hearts of man from a few scattered individuals for six thousand years, opening the New Covenant to all humanity during the Millennium. The two loaves made with the leaven representing sin; for those in the millennium must still overcome sin by the power of the Holy Spirit to write God’s law on their hearts.
Sin then being covered by the sin offering representing the sacrifice of Jesus Christ; we and they are then empowered to overcome all sin and to write the Word of God on our hearts, if we so desire, and if we follow the Spirit of God to learn and to live by every Word of God.
These two loaves represent the first fruits having sin, but having that sin atoned for and covered through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
Therefore the two loaves do not speak of the already resurrected chosen, but represent an increase in the first fruits when God’s Spirit is poured out on a still imperfect humanity at the establishment of the kingdom of God over all humanity at Pentecost.
First we have the resurrection to spirit of Jesus Christ, the first Wave Offering; to be followed by the New Covenant of Jer 31;31, and calling out of the remaining millennial harvest with the gift of the Holy Spirit to all humanity on Pentecost.
Paul tells us in Colossians 2:16 let no man therefore judge or condemn you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of a holyday, or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come.
Paul is telling us that Holy Days, New Moons and Sabbaths are shadows of things to come. They are prophetic in nature. There is going to be a fulfillment of these things.
We know that the Wave Offering was fulfilled by Jesus Christ, on the literal Wave Offering Sunday; and on the 50th day of Pentecost, there will be a fulfillment of the Feast of First fruits, extending the New Covenant to all humanity on a soon coming Feast of Pentecost.
This is to be a New Covenant with ISRAEL; which has not happened yet! And this writing of God’s Word on the hearts of Israel, and humanity being grafted into a spiritual Israel, brings them into a SPIRITUAL New Covenant; and all mankind will be grafted into that Spiritual Israel, as the Gentiles who have been called out, have been grafted into spiritual Israel since at least 31 A.D.
In the first century the Holy Spirit was given to the spiritually called out of both Jew and Gentile; and the Holy Spirit shall be poured out on all flesh (Joel 2:28); after the Day of the Lord.
On that Feast of Pentecost, there will be a substantial increase within the family of God as God’s Spirit of the New Covenant is poured out on all flesh (Joel 2:28); and God’s Word is written on the hearts of all humanity.
We can now see how this is coming about, by turning to the book of Acts 2, where it is written: Acts 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord or one mind, in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, other languages, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
The Spirit of God, is a gift from God; the gift of God’s very nature, truth and mind; that we might be enabled to keep the law of God which is a spiritual law.
Romans 7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual:
When we have repented and turned away from sin [which is breaking and compromising with God’s law], we can then be reconciled to God by the application of the sacrifice of Christ; then God can give his nature to those reconciled to him, so that they may internalize his mind, nature, commandments, spirit and actions; writing them on the hearts of humanity.
This Spirit is NOT a person; and however various people choose to describe it; it is NOT something that we whip up for ourselves. Otherwise the disciples would not have need of it being given to them, having already been taught the things of God directly by Christ. [Surely, in their zeal for Christ, they could have whipped up the Spirit for themselves if that were possible.]
And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. Now, when this was noised about, the multitude came together, and were confounded.
They were astonished because every person heard them speaking in his own language. These people were not speaking some gobbledygook or babbling away in some spastic emotional ecstasy. They were speaking in the languages of men, and it was being heard in the languages of all the earth; in the genuine languages of men. People were hearing God’s Word preached to them in their own language.
And they were all amazed and marveled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galileans? And how hear we every man in our own tongue, our own language wherein we were born? Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites and the dwellers of Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, and many others including Cretes and Arabians and Romans.
Acts 2:11 we do hear them speak in our [language] tongues the wonderful works and deeds of God. And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another: What does this mean? Well, some mocking said, these men are full of new wine.
But Peter, standing up with the 11, [the apostles. The total of 12 including Peter], lifted up his voice, and said unto them, You men of Judaea, and all you that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words: For these are not drunken, as you suppose, being it is about the third hour of the day, which by the reckoning of the time would be about 9 am. But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel.
Peter now quoting Joel 2:23, spoke, and it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh.
Now, notice at this Feast of Pentecost, in the first century A.D.: Was God’s Spirit poured out on all flesh? No it wasn’t.
Does all flesh have God’s Spirit today? No they don’t. What is Peter talking about here?
He is quoting Joel 2:28; and the events in Acts, were a small down payment, an earnest; a first little bit, to demonstrate to everyone that this was still going to happen to all humanity in the future. A little bit then, a lot more in the future.
This prophecy regarding Joel 2:28, that God will put out his spirit on all flesh has still to be fulfilled. It was fulfilled only in part on the day of Pentecost in the first century where Peter was speaking.
Peter goes on quoting Joel 2 and I will show wonders in heaven above and signs in the earth beneath, blood, and fire, and vapor and smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and notable day of the Lord come. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call upon the name of the eternal shall be saved.
Did these things happen in the first century, In the days of Peter? did the moon turn to blood? Was the earth in darkness? were all of these signs and wonders done in Peter’s day? No, they were not.
This is taking about the last days, the end of the age of Satan. And at the day of the Lord, when the day of the Lord is over and the Kingdom of God is established; God will pour out his Spirit upon all flesh.
Which is why the lion will lie down with the lamb and the child shall play on the hole of the serpent because all flesh, and not just human beings but all flesh will be given a spirit of peace and calmness. And the very nature of all creatures including man and also the vicious beast will be changed into a peaceable nature.
If we turn now to Daniel 12, we will find that the angel is telling Daniel from the time that the abomination, the false prophet is set up. From the time he takes his office and he is empowered to do great miracles shall be 1290 days. Then, people who continue and reach 1335 days shall be blessed and Daniel shall stand in his lot; receive his responsibility and inheritance, after the end of the 1335 days, when all people shall be blessed.
How are they blessed? Evil is put down. Satan is removed and God’s Spirit is poured out on all flesh, so that we may have the Word of God written on the hearts of mankind according to Joel 2:28 and Jer 31.
God will pour out his Spirit on all flesh and establish his kingdom on the earth, ushering in a period of 1000 years of peace and prosperity unknown to mankind before that time.
A wonderful period; a Sabbath of rest for all humanity as they enter the family of God. In which all people shall be called out as the Millennial Sabbath first fruits, and have God’s Spirit poured out on them, and the Word of God written on their hearts instead of on tables of stone!
There shall be rest from Satan, rest from sin, rest from wickedness. And all people shall enjoy and rejoice with their God, and the faithful shall be changed to spirit at the age of 100 years.
The Mosaic Covenant, was entered into between God and Israel on the Feast of First fruits, the Feast of Pentecost. In that Covenant the law of God was written on tables of Stone, and physical Israel having hearts of flint and not of flesh could not keep the Word of God in its spirit and intent.
This was only a type of the spiritual New Covenant of Jer 31, which will also begin on the Feast of Pentecost between God and physical Israel; now becoming a spiritual Israel into which all the Gentiles will be grafted.
As those called out over the past 6,000 years have had to grapple with sin, and called out humanity in the millennium will have to overcome their own tendencies, which is why the loaves are made with leaven.
Now, we know that people had God’s Spirit long before this, we know that people like Abel and Enoch and Elijah and Moses, all had God’s Spirit. And they were given that Spirit by God in faith, that Jesus Christ would complete his mission and offer himself as an atoning sacrifice for our sincerely repented sins.
God’s Spirit was given to the ancients in faith that the sacrifice of the Lamb of God sacrificed from the foundations of the world, would be fulfilled and that Jesus Christ the Lamb of God would successfully complete the job of atoning for the sins of men. For it is only through sincere repentance and turning away from sin and the atoning sacrifice that God’s Spirit may be given to men, for God’s Spirit is given only to those who obey God.
Acts 5:32 and we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Spirit, whom God hath given to those that obey him.
The Holy Spirit is given to those who obey God.
And spiritual things are spiritually discerned as it says in: 1 Corinthians 2:14 the natural, normal, carnal man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for the things of God are foolishness unto them: neither can they know them or understand them, because such things are spiritually discerned.
We must have God’s Spirit in order to discern the things of God. And since we know that Abraham, Moses and Elijah and Abel and Enoch and Noah, understood and discerned many of the things of God. We know that they had God’s Spirit. And God’s Spirit was given to them in faith, that Christ would fulfill this mission of being a sacrifice and of making atonement for the sins of men. By first living the perfect sinless life himself and then allowing himself to be killed for the sins of others.
Afterwards He was raised up by God the Father and then ascended to the Father to be accepted for us. After which He came down, to demonstrate, and reveal to people that He had indeed been resurrected. And He spent a few days with people after which he ascended back to God the Father, where He ministers as our High Priest, our Intercessor and our Mediator; between us and God the Father, between us and God. Thus allowing us to have access to God.
Jesus Christ is our High Priest forever, after the order of Melchizedek. That means He has established a new order [actually restored an order older than Aaron] of the priesthood. Jesus Christ has become High Priest, and as our High Priest, bringing before the Father his own self, his own perfect sacrifice; as atonement for our sins and interceding between us and the Father, interceding with the Father on our behalf so that we might be forgiven and made acceptable to God.
We are now under the priesthood of Melchizedek, the priesthood of Jesus Christ. He is our High Priest. Not Moses and Aaron.
Jesus Christ is our sacrifice for sin. Not some physical lambs, bullocks and goats. Jesus Christ was the perfect sacrifice. And having accomplished that perfect sacrifice was deemed worthy to become our High Priest, interceding and mediating with God the Father on our behalf.
Today, every person who is converted and has God’s Spirit, is in the process of having God’s Word written on their hearts, and in training to become priests under the High Priest Jesus Christ. We are all in training to become priests forever after the order of Melchizedek, under our High Priest Jesus Christ.
That is our calling, that is why the Scripture says, you shall become kings and priests for our God. If we overcome we are going to become kings and priests, that is our reward if we overcome. And we are to become priests forever after the order of Melchizedek under our High Priest, Jesus Christ.
This is the message of the Apostle Paul throughout the entire book of Hebrews. It is an explanation of a change, or the change, in the priesthood. From the priesthood of Aaron, back to the priesthood of Melchizedek. That’s what the book of Hebrews is all about.
Yes, there is a New Covenant. It is a covenant as Paul writes in Hebrews, where God will place his law in our hearts and in our minds.
It is a covenant where there is an atonement, a sacrifice for sin. Which actually does fulfill the need for a complete and total spiritual redemption and deliverance from sin. Allowing us then to turn away from our wickedness, to turn toward God, to start keeping his commandments. And in so doing, we can be filled with the Holy Spirit of God.
The Kingdom of God will be set up on the same Feast of Pentecost High Holy Day as the Mosaic theocracy was set up, because God has promised that we shall receive our inheritance over the earth at the end of the days.
Daniel 12:12 Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days. But go thou thy way till the end be: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot [inheritance] at the end of the days.
This new beginning is pictured by the Feast of Pentecost, the 50th day, being the first day after seven times seven weeks. It is a new beginning on this day, the Feast of First fruits, the Feast of Pentecost, and there will be a new beginning on this earth for mankind; with God’s Spirit poured out on all flesh (Joel 2:28).
Yes, there will be a millennium of peace. And that government, that New Covenant of the writing of God’s Word on our hearts will be extended and expanded to include all mankind on the Feast of First fruits.
Zechariah 14:16 And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.
Zechariah 8:20 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; It shall yet come to pass, that there shall come people, and the inhabitants of many cities: 8:21 And the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, Let us go speedily to pray before the Lord, and to seek the Lord of hosts: I will go also. 8:22 Yea, many people and strong nations shall come to seek the Lord of hosts in Jerusalem, and to pray before the Lord.
8:23 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you.
Even as a certain amount of God’s Spirit was poured out on a few people on that first century day of Pentecost, it will be poured out in fullness on all people, on the same day, the same day of Pentecost in the future, after all evil is stamped out and removed.
The Feast of Pentecost is much more than a picture of the start of the first century Ekklesia.
Pentecost is also the memorial of the start of the Mosaic Covenant of stone; and it is a memorial of the beginning of the New Covenant [with Abel] of writing the Word of God on our hearts and circumcising our hearts of stone to turn them into hearts of flesh by the dwelling of Christ in our hearts through his Spirit.
Yes, friends, on the Feast of First Fruits, in the wilderness of Sinai, the law of God was written on tables of stone; and on a near future Pentecost; the Word of God will be written on the hearts of humanity!
Pentecost is a Jubilee of days; the fiftieth day! What happens on this Jubilee of days?
- Satan is removed for one thousand years
- The way is opened for sincere repentance and the pouring out of the Holy Spirit on all living at that time
- The Theocracy of the Kingdom of God is established over all the earth
- All people will live by every Word of God
Then as per the seven day week and the seven days of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the end of the Millennial Kingdom will complete the seven thousand year period of the Spring Harvest of First Fruits.
Later on in the fall, the Fall Festivals picture the resurrection and the bringing in of the main harvest, the great harvest of all who have lived and died, never having known or understood anything regarding God. They will be resurrected and have their minds opened, they will repent and be given God’s Spirit, and will be reaped, or brought into the Kingdom of God, into the family of God.
That is what the Fall Festivals are about. They are about the fall harvest. While the Spring Festivals are about the spring harvest, the early harvest, the first fruits harvest.
The Land Sabbaths and the Jubilee of Years
Leviticus 25:1 And the Lord spake unto Moses in mount Sinai, saying,
Notice when this commandment is to begin: God says that “When you come into the land [of promise].
This is the same command for cutting the Wave Offering and beginning the count to Pentecost (Lev 23:10-21)!
Clearly this is a new commandment – for both the Wave Offering for the weeks count to Pentecost and for the annual Sabbaths count – which did not begin until Israel enters the land and begins to cultivate it; just like the Wave Offering, this commanded action did not begin until Israel entered the land and began to cultivate it.
When this Sabbatical Year commandment begins is a very important point because some claim that the Land Sabbath began at creation and then try to date it with a continual count of seven from their idea of when creation was. At the same time these folks are dramatically off on when the creation took place; the Rabbins for example claiming that this is year 5774, when it is at least 5990 + since creation. They are also wrong in claiming a continual count of repeating seven year cycles for the Sabbatical years as I shall presently prove.
25:2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land which I give you, then shall the land keep a sabbath unto the Lord.
Just like the seven day week, Sabbath cycle; the Sabbatical years are a cycle of six years to be followed by a seventh year Sabbath of rest for the land under cultivation.
25:3 Six years thou shalt sow thy field, and six years thou shalt prune thy vineyard, and gather in the fruit thereof;
In the seventh year we may not sow nor reap [in a commercial sense] the promised land.
25:4 But in the seventh year shall be a sabbath of rest unto the land, a sabbath for the Lord: thou shalt neither sow thy field, nor prune thy vineyard. 25:5 That which groweth of its own accord of thy harvest thou shalt not reap [in a commercial sense for storage or sale], neither gather the grapes of thy vine undressed: for it is a year of rest unto the land.
That which grows of itself may be gleaned for personal use only, by the owner and the poor; however it may not be harvested on a commercial scale for storage or sale.
25:6 And the sabbath of the land shall be meat [gleanings, food] for you; for thee, and for thy servant, and for thy maid, and for thy hired servant, and for thy stranger that sojourneth with thee.
That which grows of itself may be used for our personal and animal food and for the poor and traveler to glean; but not harvested for storage or sale.
25:7 And for thy cattle, and for the beast that are in thy land, shall all the increase thereof be meat [food of gleaning].
Remember that the land Sabbath was for an entire year.
The rules for the weekly Sabbaths include no work of any kind; including buying, selling and food preparation, which cannot be extended for a full Sabbatical year. Otherwise the Sabbatical years are corollaries to the weekly Sabbaths:
Both have the same general rules!
The Land Sabbath imposes the following conditions every seventh year, which mirror the weekly Sabbath; except that being a whole year selling, buying, food preparation and various other activities are allowed on Sabbatical years:
- Nothing may be harvested for commercial purposes.
- No crops may be sown specifically for harvesting.
- No vineyards, or orchards may be pruned.
- Nothing may be harvested for storage to sell later.
- Nothing may be harvested for sale.
- Pasturing cattle, sheep and poultry is NOT restricted.
- That which grows of itself may be gleaned for personal use only, and may be eaten by the farm animals.
The volunteer crop of the seventh year may be be gleaned – just as one may pick an ear of grain for consumption on a weekly Sabbath (Mat 12:1) – and the animals are to be allowed to forage in the fields.
Exodus 23:10-11, “…six years thou shalt sow thy land, and shalt gather in the fruits thereof: But the seventh year thou shalt let it rest and lie still; that the poor of thy people may eat: and what they leave the beasts of the field shall eat. In like manner thou shalt deal with thy vineyard, and with thy oliveyard.”
In order for there to be a volunteer crop in the seventh year, farmers must also stop breaking God’s anti-hybridization laws:
Leviticus 19:19, “Ye shall keep my statutes. Thou shalt not let thy cattle gender with a diverse kind: thou shalt not sow thy field with mingled seed.”
Deuteronomy 22:9, “Thou shalt not sow thy vineyard with divers seeds: lest the fruit of thy seed which thou hast sown, and the fruit of thy vineyard, be defiled.”
This in its spirit also forbids genetically modified plants, and hybridization of plants.
Only non-hybrid, open-pollinated seed will produce volunteer crops to feed the needy as well as the animals during the seventh and eighth years; and in the case of the Jubilee the ninth year. Such seed will also restore nutritional value to our foods and health to our nation.
Allowing the ground to lay fallow every seventh year is also very effective in insect and pest control; obviating the need to poison the ground with today’s chemicals
The Sabbatical year for the land is a release from the work of cultivating the land, and is also intended as a Sabbath year for the people, to give them a year off from most of their work, to devote to God and an increased study of his word.
God has given us his weekly Sabbath and also his Sabbatical years as a break from our labours to spend with him.
Between the Exodus and the Babylonian captivity, the land sabbath was disregarded seventy times. Hence, the Jubilees were also disregarded. Therefore Judah was sentenced to seventy years in Babylonian captivity, to give the land rest and restore the land:
2 Chronicles 36:16-21, “…the wrath of God arose against his people [because of the house of Judah’s disobedience], till there was no remedy. Therefore he brought upon them [Nebuchadnezzar] the king of the Chaldees … he gave them all into his hand…. And them that had escaped from the sword carried he away to Babylon; where they [the captives of Judah] were servants to him and his sons … until the land had enjoyed her sabbaths: for as long as she lay desolate she kept sabbath, to fulfil threescore and ten years.”
God also commands that at the END of the Sabbatical year there should be a remission of all debts owed to each other within the nation. In the New Covenant this applies spiritually as well as physically in the sense that we must forgive all offenses against us
Deuteronomy 15:1 At the end of every seven years thou shalt make a release. 15:2 And this is the manner of the release: Every creditor that lendeth ought unto his neighbour shall release it; he shall not exact it of his neighbour, or of his brother; because it is called the Lord‘s release.
15:3 Of a foreigner [a type of the unconverted] thou mayest exact it again [because they are not keeping the law and will not forgive us]: but that which is thine with thy brother thine hand shall release;
The forgiveness of debt for the unconverted is not required because they will not keep the law and will exact every farthing from us, yet in the Kingdom of God all will be converted and all will enjoy forgiveness.
On God’s weekly Sabbath we are to spend our time with God, and on the Sabbatical we are to spend our time with God as well. This rest for the land is a rest from mundane activities for us so that we might spend more of our time learning of and focusing on godliness.
This law is in reference to personal debt, that the poor may not fear the Sabbatical Year and may find a blessing and relief instead. This law is to be separated from investments in business activities which have nothing to do with personal poverty and are intended to make money. This is clearly implied by the debt release being conditioned by: Deuteronomy 15:4 Save when there shall be no poor among you;
I am quite sure that in the kingdom there will be a quite different economic system without usury and debt economies.
I want to make it very clear that this release is about borrowed personal debt; you cannot go to a person and say that you will not pay him his earned wages because that is a debt that must be forgiven. That is partly what I mean by business activities.
The Jubilee Sabbatical Year Count
For the record the modern word is spelled “Jubilee,” but the KJV uses the spelling “Jubile.”
Leviticus 25:8 And thou shalt number seven sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and the space of the seven sabbaths of years shall be unto thee forty and nine years.
We determine the weekly Sabbath by counting six days beginning on Sunday the first day of the week; 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and then comes the weekly Sabbath on the seventh day [Friday sunset to Saturday sunset].
When we count to Pentecost we begin the count at the start of the first day of a week [Sunday] and then count the Sabbath [the seventh day] of that week as ONE Sabbath; then we count the fulfilled Sabbaths; 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7, which completes seven Sabbaths or seven weeks of 49 days.
In the case of the Sabbatical years we are to begin our count when Israel began to till the Promised Land – which was the same year that the first Wave Sheaf was cut -, and then proclaim the seventh year as a Sabbatical Year. We are then to continue counting each seventh year until we complete seven Sabbatical years, or 49 years; then the year AFTER the seventh Sabbatical Year, at the END of the 49th year; we are to proclaim on the Day of Atonement the 50th year the Jubilee.
The difference is in the beginning of the counts:
- The count to Pentecost was to begin with the Wave Sheaf in the SRRING, counting the days to Pentecost because the spring Festivals picture the spring or early harvest;
- The Sabbatical years count to the main Jubilee; was to begin in the FALL – from Atonement to Atonement – because it had to do with the main fall harvest!
The beginning of the New Year in the spring; is about the Spring Festivals and about the early spring harvest and resurrection of the EARLY HARVEST!
The beginning of the New Year in the fall; is about the main FALL HARVEST of all nations!
The two counts – one of days and one of years – are otherwise exact replicas:
- The seven Sabbath count with the next day – day 50 – being the Feast of Pentecost, and Pentecost falling on the 50th day.
- The complete seven Sabbatical years total forty nine years with the Jubilee falling on the next and 50th Atonement to Atonement – Fall Main Harvest – year!
Then at the end of the 50th year we begin the Sabbatical year count again with a year one! Just like at the end of the weekly Sabbath we begin the seven day count again!
See how the weekly seventh day Sabbath, the seven weeks to Pentecost and the seven years to the Jubilee all are consistent!
The Sabbatical years are not a continual count of seven year cycles for millennia! They are a count up to the end of the forty ninth year, and it is the fiftieth year which is the Jubilee; and then the Sabbatical year count is to be repeated again up to the next Jubilee!
The Law of the Jubilee Year
The Sabbatical years and the Jubilee years are to begin on the Day of Atonement; NOT the Feast of Trumpets and NOT in the spring new year.
The Jubilee is commanded to be declared on the Day of Atonement while the fall New Year is the first day of the seventh month and the Fast of Atonement is the tenth day of that month.
The reasons for this are spiritual! and are concerned with the release [forgiveness] of debt [sin] and the restoration of all things.
Pentecost is a Jubilee of days; the fiftieth day! What happens on this Jubilee of days?
- Satan is removed for one thousand years
- The way is opened for sincere repentance and the pouring out of the Holy Spirit on all living at that time
- The Theocracy of the Kingdom of God is established over all the earth
- All people will live by every Word of God
The day of Atonement pictures:
- Satan removed Forever,
- The way being opened for sincere repentance and the pouring out of God’s Holy Spirit on the main harvest of all those who have ever lived and died in ignorance,
- The application of the sacrifice of Christ being extended to a sincerely repentant humanity and the main harvest of mankind,
- The forgiveness of all our debt of sin and the restoration of all the things of God for the multitude of the main harvest of humanity!
- The jubilee is a proclamation of LIBERTY from bondage to Satan and sin,
- and every human being who has died in ignorance dedicating themselves to live by every Word of Goo FOREVER!
What is the difference between the Feast of Pentecost and the Jubilee on Atonement ?
Only that Pentecost is a small forerunner of the main fall harvest of humanity!
Leviticus 25:9 Then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the jubile to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land.
25:10 And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family.
The 50th year like the sabbatical 49th year is also a Sabbath of rest for the land. So there are back to back land Sabbaths; thus making ridiculous the concept of postponement in the rabbinic calendar to avoid back to back Sabbaths in the autumn.
If one can go two consecutive years without planting or harvesting; then one can have two consecutive Sabbaths in terms of a weekly Sabbath and a high day Sabbath! Indeed, if one can have back to back Sabbaths in the spring; there is no reason for avoiding them in the fall. This is just Rabbinic nonsense.
25:11 A jubile shall that fiftieth year be unto you: ye shall not sow, neither reap that which groweth of itself in it, nor [commercially] gather the grapes in it of thy vine undressed.
25:12 For it is the jubile; it shall be holy unto you: ye shall eat [glean only, not harvest for sale or storage] the increase thereof out of the field.
25:13 In the year of this jubile ye shall return every man unto his possession.
25:14 And if thou sell ought unto thy neighbour, or buyest ought of thy neighbour’s hand, ye shall not oppress one another: 25:15 According to the number of years after the jubile thou shalt buy [farm land] of thy neighbour, and according unto the number of years of the fruits he shall sell unto thee:
The land belongs to God; and is allotted by God to each family forever. If one chose to “sell” his possession of land, he can only do so according to the number of years remaining to the Jubilee; meaning that what is called “selling” is better known in our day as “renting” the land for a set number of years.
25:16 According to the multitude of years thou shalt increase the price thereof, and according to the fewness of years thou shalt diminish the price of it: for according to the number of the years of the fruits doth he sell unto thee.
We are to learn and to keep the whole Word of God with a righteous godly zeal!
25:17 Ye shall not therefore oppress one another; but thou shalt fear thy God:for I am the Lord your God. 25:18 Wherefore ye shall do my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them; and ye shall dwell in the land in safety.
The promise of blessings for obedience, is extended to spiritual rewards for obedience to the spirit and intent of the law.
25:19 And the land shall yield her fruit, and ye shall eat your fill, and dwell therein in safety.
It is very important that we tell God of our intention to keep the sabbatical and Jubilee years and to ask for his blessing in advance so that we will be given enough in the sixth year to tide us over the seventh year until we can plant and then harvest in the eighth year; and in the case of the Jubilee that we have enough to carry over until the harvest of the ninth year.
25:20 And if ye shall say, What shall we eat the seventh year? behold, we shall not sow, nor gather in our increase:
25:21 Then I will command my blessing upon you in the sixth year, and it shall bring forth fruit for three years.
25:22 And ye shall sow [after the Sabbatical seventh year] the eighth year, and eat yet of old fruit until the ninth year [harvest] ; until her fruits come in ye shall eat of the old store.
25:23 The land shall not be sold [permanently] for ever: for the land is mine, for ye are strangers and sojourners with me.
The original owner may redeem the land to himself if he has sold it. If one buys a farm according to the expected increase until the Jubilee, then he or his close of family may pay back and redeem back his land at any time.
25:24 And in all the land of your possession ye shall grant a redemption for the land. 25 If thy brother be waxen poor, and hath sold away some of his possession, and if any of his kin come to redeem it, then shall he redeem that which his brother sold.
25:26 And if the man have none to redeem it, and himself be able to redeem it; 25:27 Then let him count the years of the sale thereof, and restore the overplus unto the man to whom he sold it; that he may return unto his possession.
If a man or his family are not able to redeem the land the it shall still revert to him at the Jubilee.
25:28 But if he be not able to restore it to him, then that which is sold shall remain in the hand of him that hath bought it until the year of jubile: and in the jubile it shall go out, and he shall return unto his possession.
The law concerning houses inside cities that are not farmland
25:29 And if a man sell a dwelling house in a walled city, then he may redeem it within a whole year after it is sold; within a full year may he redeem it.
25:30 And if it be not redeemed within the space of a full year, then the house that is in the walled city shall be established for ever to him that bought it throughout his generations: it shall not go out in the jubile.
25:31 But the houses of the [country farm villages] villages which have no wall round about them shall be counted as the fields of the country: they may be redeemed, and they shall go out in the jubile.
Finding the Sabbatical and Jubilee Year
There has been a lot of confusion on the Sabbatical and Jubilee years; some saying that the Jubilee beginning on Atonement – contrary to scripture the Rabbins begin Sabbatical Years on the Feast of Trumpets – means that the Jubilee is only half a year with the first half being the previous Sabbatical year. They imagine this to try and meld the Spring new year of the first fruits with the Fall main harvest new year.
It is from this error that they get a continual cycle of Sabbatical years with no break in each forty nine year cycle for a Jubilee fiftieth year, holding to a continual seven year cycle; and that from creation.
Because the Rabbins have departed from the scriptures about counting to The Feast of Pentecost, they have lost their way concerning the Jubilee years as well.
Once we realize that there are two new years and two new year beginnings; First a new year in the spring representing the spring first fruits harvest; and then another new year in the Autumn representing the main fall harvest; the fog clears away
Some have thought that Isaiah 37:30 referred to a Sabbatical year in the year 700 BC. In fact that verse referred in context was the siege of Jerusalem by the Assyrians during the reign of Hezekiah. This was a prophecy that the Assyrians would leave off the siege after two years and that the people would be able to leave the city and sow on the third year.
Isaiah 37:30 is an allegorical prophecy of the end days, that after two years in tribulation God would begin to deliver his people in the third year. Isaiah 37:30 may appear superficially to refer to a Sabbatical year but it does not.
Hosea 6:1 Come, and let us return unto the Lord: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, [in tribulation] and he will bind us up.
6:2 After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.
Isaiah 37:30 And this shall be a sign unto thee, Ye shall eat this year such as groweth of itself; and the second year that which springeth of the same: and in the third year sow ye, and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat the fruit thereof.
37:31 And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall again take root downward, and bear fruit upward: 37:32 For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and they that escape out of mount Zion: the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall do this.
The Maccabees mention two or three Sabbatical years, however it is impossible to determine if they were correct, or which Sabbatical years they were in relation to the Jubilee. Some choose to count from these Sabbatical Years mentioned in Maccabees in a continual cycle of seven, not accounting to the biblical 50th year end and new beginning reset of that cycle.
Today the Rabbins say that the Sabbatical year will begin on the Feast of Trumpets 2014, while the other most popular date is Nisan 1, 2016. Both are wrong because they do not start on the Day of Atonement.
Both of these starting days are wrong since God expressly said that the Jubilee would begin on the Feast of Atonement; and if the 50th year Jubilee begins on Atonement, the previous year would then end at Atonement and would have therefore have begun on Atonement the previous year.
If one year of the Sabbatical Year system begins on Atonement, then of necessity all years in the Sabbatical Year Jubilee system begin on the Fast of Atonement.
Remember that the seven year Sabbatical cycle is interrupted by the 50th year Jubilee after which a new cycle of Sabbatical years begins. A continual count of sevens does not work, not even a count from a speculated creation date, or a speculated exodus date.
The years of 2014 and 2016 as well as other proposed years cannot be reconciled, since there is no proof as to a particular Jubilee year on which to base a calculation. This cycle of Jubilees has been lost and needs to be restored.
