Micah 1 – 2

Micah

INTRODUCTION: The Book of Micah is the sixth of the twelve minor prophets. It records the sayings of Micah, Mikayahu, meaning “Who is like Yahweh?”, an 8th century B.C. prophet from the village of Moresheth [near Bethlehem] in Judah The book has three major divisions, chapters 1-2, 3-5 and 6-7, each introduced by the word “Hear,” with a pattern of alternating announcements of warning and correction, and expressions of hope within each division.

Micah 1

Micah 1:1 The word of the LORD that came to Micah the Morasthite in the days of Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, which he saw concerning Samaria and Jerusalem.
Judgment against Samaria [Israel] and Judea [Judah]

1:2 Hear, all ye people; hearken, O earth, and all that therein is: and let the Lord GOD be witness against you, the LORD from his holy temple.

1:3 For, behold, the LORD cometh forth out of his place, and will come down, and tread upon the high places of the earth.

1:4 And the mountains shall be molten under him, and the valleys shall be cleft, as wax before the fire, and as the waters that are poured down a steep place.

1:5 For the transgression of Jacob [Israel and Judah; BOTH physical AND spiritual ] is all this, and for the sins of the house of Israel. What is the transgression of Jacob? is it not Samaria [the calves of Samaria, idols]? and what are the high places of Judah? are they not [Judah trusted in Jerusalem and in the temple; that God would not correct them because they called themselves God’s people as they sinned]  Jerusalem?

1:6 Therefore I will make Samaria as an heap of the field, and as plantings of a vineyard: and I will pour down the stones thereof into the valley, and I will discover the foundations thereof.

Remember that this is written for us and is therefore duel we must take it to heart and acknowledge our own wrong doings. This is double duel and by that I mean that it refers to all physical Israel in those days and in the latter days; it is also duel in that it refers to BOTH physical and spiritual Israel.

1:7 And all the graven images thereof shall be beaten to pieces, and all the hires thereof shall be burned with the fire, and all the idols thereof will I lay desolate: for she gathered it of the hire of an harlot, and they shall return to the hire of an harlot.

God will destroy ALL of the idols of all Israel and Judah first and then he will go on to destroy all of the idols in this world; BOTH physical objects like our wealth, buildings and possessions, and also spiritual things; like false teachings and organizations, and idols of men that do not obey ALL of God’s commandments with enthusiastic zeal.  An idol is  anything that come between the people and God.

1:8 Therefore I will wail and howl, I will go stripped and naked: I will make a wailing like the dragons [he will wail in mourning sounding like a wolf or coyote] , and mourning as the owls.

God’s true prophets and followers will mourn over the coming correction upon his people and upon the nations.

1:9 For her wound is incurable; for it [correction] is come unto Judah; he [it]  is come unto the gate of my people, even to Jerusalem.

The correction will come to Jerusalem and the correction will also begin at the temple of God’s called out. let the reader understand.

Revelation 11:1 And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein.

God will measure out the true worshipers of God, the true temple of the spirit; for they are beloved of God; but the outer court measure not for they are those who will be corrected.

Brethren, this is speaking about measuring out the true temple of God’s spirit God’s pillars, so that they will not be taken into captivity. They are to be separated from the lukewarm Laodicean types who are the Outer Court, still a part of the Temple but lukewarm for God and his commandments.

11:2 But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.

Today God is marking out and separating the faithful from the faithless, the zealous to live by every Word of God from those who follow the false ways of their idols of men.

Ezekiel 9:4 And the Lord said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads [Placing God’s spirit in the minds] of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof.

9:5 And to the others he said in mine hearing, Go ye after him through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity:

9:6 Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary [God’s sanctuary is the place where God dwells; His called out people]. Then they began at the ancient men [so called wise men of the Ekklesia] which were before the house.

9:7 And he said unto them, Defile the house, and fill the courts with the slain: go ye forth. And they went forth, and slew in the city.

9:8 And it came to pass, while they were slaying them, and I was left, that I fell upon my face, and cried, and said, Ah Lord God! wilt thou destroy all the residue of Israel in thy pouring out of thy fury upon Jerusalem?

9:9 Then said he unto me, The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceeding great, and the land is full of blood, and the city full of perverseness: for they say, The Lord hath forsaken the earth, and the Lord seeth not.

9:10 And as for me also, mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity, but I will recompense their way upon their head.

Brethren, this is coming on our lands for the overspreading of our abominations, and it is coming on the Church of God Groups for their idolatry, and lack of zeal for God and his commandments as they exalt their idols of men and false traditions above the Word of God.

The true faithful are being measured out, so that the pillars might be spared; while the Laodiceans receive their correction.

Micah 1:10 Declare ye it not at Gath, weep ye not at all: in the house of Aphrah roll thyself in the dust.

1:11 Pass ye away, thou inhabitant of Saphir, having thy shame naked: the inhabitant of Zaanan came not forth in the mourning of Bethezel; he shall receive of you his standing.

1:12 For the inhabitant of Maroth waited carefully [anxiously]  for good [deliverance]: but evil came down from the LORD unto the gate of Jerusalem.

Correction shall begin at Jerusalem and at the House of God; his spiritually called out who are his Temple today.

1:13 O thou inhabitant of Lachish, bind the chariot to the swift beast: she is the beginning of the sin to the daughter of Zion: for the transgressions of Israel were found in thee.

Speaking of Jeroboam and his teaching of idolatries to Israel, just as modern preachers teach the people to idolize themselves and their false organizational traditions.

1:14 Therefore shalt thou give presents to Moreshethgath: the houses of Achzib shall be a lie to the kings of Israel.

A short promise of Messiah to provide hope for the saints and for the people of Israel.

1:15 Yet will I bring an heir unto thee, O inhabitant of Mareshah [a city near Lachish south of Bethlehem]: he shall come unto Adullam the glory of Israel.

1:16 Make thee bald [shave the head in mourning], and poll [cut our hair in mourning for our children] thee for thy delicate children; enlarge thy baldness [make ourselves bald like the bald eagle in our mourning to repentance] as the eagle; for they are gone into captivity from thee.

Micah 2

Micah 2:1 Woe to them that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds [lay awake at night imagining doing evil things]! when the morning is light, they practise it [and in the morning do the evil they have planned in the night], because it is in the power of their hand.

Woe unto the wicked who lay awake at night thinking on how to gain personal advantage.

2:2 And they covet fields, and take them by violence; and houses, and take them away: so they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage.

2:3 Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, against this family do I devise an evil [bring upon us the evil of affliction], from which ye shall not remove your necks; neither shall ye go haughtily [be full of arrogant pride]: for this time [of rebuke is come] is evil.

2:4 In that day shall one take up a parable against you, and lament with a doleful lamentation, and say, We be utterly spoiled: he hath changed the portion of my people [from blessings to cursing’s]: how hath he removed it from me! turning away he hath divided our fields.

2:5 Therefore thou shalt have none that shall cast a cord [None will have the respect of God to cast lots before God for he will not hear us and give us his answers, because we have no zeal to hear HIM.] by lot in the congregation of the LORD.

Today the Ekklesia does not want to hear the truth.  Oh we listen to prophecies of trial and tribulation but have absolutely the wrong take on these things believing that they will come upon others and not on ourselves.  We judge ourselves righteous while we are full of pride, idolatry of men and sin; being totally blind to our spiritual condition because we WILL NOT SEE. Rev 3:16.

Today the vast majority of the Ekklesia declare: “speak nothing bad about us, for we are righteous in  our own eyes.”  When told the truth we immediately shut out what God thinks of us; preferring to live in a world of self delusion, following our idols of men in our social club assemblies, rather than sincerely repenting of our sins to turn and  live by every Word of God.

2:6 Prophesy ye not, say they to them that prophesy: they shall not prophesy to them, that they shall not take shame.

The false prophet’s who say that the time is delayed, will be destroyed along with the people and the nations that they have deceived.

God’s warnings are for our good that we should depart from our evil ways and find peace and refuge in him.

2:7 O thou that art named the house of Jacob [Israel, and the spiritual church of God], is the spirit of the LORD straitened? are these his doings? do not my words do good to him that walketh uprightly?

2:8 Even of late my people is risen up as an enemy: ye pull off the robe with the garment from them that pass by securely as men averse from war.

2:9 The women of my people have ye cast out from their pleasant houses; from their children have ye taken away my glory for ever.

You have taken the strength of God’s people by your excessive financial demands and by teaching them to depart from the commandments of God.

The many elders and leaders who pollute God’s temple [turning God’s people (temple, sanctuary) away from him and teaching the brethren to idolize men and false traditions] with your idolatries and cast out the righteous: will be  rejected from the presence of God.

Revelation  3:15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.

16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

Micah 2:10 Arise ye, and depart; for this is not your rest: because it is polluted, it shall destroy you, even with a sore destruction.

The people desire to hear the smooth things of the false prophets; who teach that we are righteous and no harm shall befall us.  We seek prophets who lie to us and intoxicate us with pride by their false words

2:11 If a man walking in the spirit and falsehood do lie, saying, I will prophesy unto thee of wine and of strong drink; he shall even be the prophet of this people.

The people seek leaders who tell them smooth things and prophecy of near term good. Who intoxicate the brethren with their words of love as they pervert the Word of God.

Yet after their correction Messiah will surely gather the remnant that is left and lead them to good.

2:12 I will surely assemble, O Jacob, all of thee; I will surely gather the remnant of Israel; I will put them together as the sheep of Bozrah, as the flock in the midst of their fold: they shall make great noise by reason of the multitude of men.

2:13 The breaker is come up before them: they have broken up, and have passed through the gate, and are gone out by it: and their king shall pass before them, and the LORD on the head of them.
