The Mosaic priesthood of Aaron would cover the sins of the people against the Mosaic Covenant by sacrificing for them; in an allegory, that spiritually Jesus Christ, would bear the sins of humanity against the spiritual New Covenant; offering himself as the Lamb of God.
Numbers 18:1 And the LORD said unto Aaron, Thou and thy sons and thy father’s house with thee shall bear the iniquity of the sanctuary: and thou and thy sons with thee shall bear the iniquity of your priesthood.
The priests shall minister in the holy things, and the Levites shall assist with the physical needs of the tabernacle [later the temple].
18:2 And thy brethren also of the tribe of Levi, the tribe of thy father, bring thou with thee, that they may be joined unto thee, and minister unto thee: but thou and thy sons with thee shall minister before the tabernacle of witness. 18:3 And they shall keep thy charge, and the charge of all the tabernacle: only they [the non priest Levites] shall not come nigh the vessels of the sanctuary and the altar, that neither they, nor ye also [for allowing the pollution of the holy things], die.
NO stranger [no unconverted person, not called to the priesthood] is to be allowed to approach any holy thing. This is representative of the fact that in the New Covenant, no unconverted person can understand the holy things of God, unless they are converted and called into the priesthood of the New Covenant, the priesthood of Jesus Christ.
18:4 And they shall be joined unto thee, and keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, for all the service of the tabernacle: and a stranger shall not come nigh unto you.
The priests are to maintain the holiness of the holy things, by keeping them pure and clean from all pollution; as we are to keep our assemblies holy, by keeping out the repentant in name only, and rejecting all self justifying and willful sin and compromise with any part of the holiness of the Word of God.
Seeking numbers by watering down teachings is an abomination to Jesus Christ! He wants QUALITY, HOLINESS and spiritual PURITY; he wants our full unity with God, which comes through a passionate zeal to be like HIM!
18:5 And ye shall keep the charge of the sanctuary, and the charge of the altar: that there be no wrath any more upon the children of Israel.
The Levites are to assist in the physical work as the priests are to be Set Apart, ministering in the HOLY THINGS.
18:6 And I, behold, I have taken your brethren the Levites from among the children of Israel: to you they are given as a gift for the LORD, to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation.
Those spiritually called to become priests of Jesus Christ, if we endure and overcome, will receive that reward on that day. But no stranger who was not called out to the New Covenant of zeal to live by every Word of God, shall be raised to eternal life to become a part of that holy priesthood of Jesus Christ.
Revelation 5:10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.
Numbers 18:7 Therefore thou and thy sons with thee shall keep your priest’s office for everything of the altar, and within the vail; and ye shall serve: I have given your priest’s office unto you as a service of gift: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.
The heave offerings are to be given to the priests for their service to Christ in the holy things.
18:8 And the LORD spake unto Aaron, Behold, I also have given thee the charge of mine heave offerings of all the hallowed things of the children of Israel; unto thee have I given them by reason of the anointing, and to thy sons, by an ordinance for ever.
Those parts not burned in the fire are to be given to the priests as explained in Leviticus.
18:9 This shall be thine of the most holy things, reserved from the fire: every oblation of theirs, every meat offering of theirs, and every sin offering of theirs, and every trespass offering of theirs which they shall render unto me, shall be [reserved as] most holy for thee and for thy sons [the officiating priests].
18:10 In the most holy place shalt thou eat it; every male shall eat it: it shall be holy unto thee.
And all offerings not burned but lifted up before the Lord, like the Wave Offering and the Pentecost first fruits offering etc, shall belong to the priests. These offerings are not only for the male priest but also belong to the female family members of the children of Aaron. The only restriction is that a person must be “clean: to eat these offerings.
In the spiritual sense of the New Covenant, being clean means being free from the pollution of any sin as well as the physical uncleanness. Today the Ekklesia are full of spiritual uncleanness and sin and most are not fit for the priesthood, until they sincerely repent.
18:11 And this is thine; the heave offering of their gift, with all the wave offerings of the children of Israel: I have given them unto thee, and to thy sons and to thy daughters with thee, by a statute for ever: every one that is clean in thy house shall eat of it.
18:12 All the best of the oil, and all the best of the wine, and of the wheat, the firstfruits of them which they shall offer unto the LORD, them have I given thee.
The first fruits offerings shall belong to the priests; spiritually all of the New Covenant called out are to be priests in the millennium and the people will bring these things to them in the kingdom of God.
18:13 And whatsoever is first ripe in the land, which they shall bring unto the LORD, shall be thine; every one that is clean in thine house shall eat of it.
All the things devoted to God shall belong to the high priest of Aaron, as an allegory that all holy things shall belong to the High Priest of the New Covenant Jesus Christ and to his spiritual priesthood in the millennial Sabbath of rest.
18:14 Every thing devoted in Israel shall be thine.
All the first born of man and beast along with the first fruits of the field shall belong to the high priest of Aaron, as an allegory that they shall belong to the New Covenant High Priest Jesus Christ and his priesthood.
18:15 Every thing that openeth the matrix in all flesh, which they bring unto the LORD, whether it be of men or beasts, shall be thine: nevertheless the firstborn of man shalt thou surely redeem, and the firstling of unclean beasts shalt thou redeem.
To redeem the firstborn of men, five shekels are to be paid to the sanctuary.
18:16 And those that are to be redeemed from a month old shalt thou redeem, according to thine estimation, for the money of five shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary, which is twenty gerahs.
The first born of all sacrificial animals shall be sacrificed and may NOT be redeemed.
18:17 But the firstling of a cow, or the firstling of a sheep, or the firstling of a goat, thou shalt not redeem; they are holy: thou shalt sprinkle their blood upon the altar, and shalt burn their fat for an offering made by fire, for a sweet savour unto the LORD.
18:18 And the flesh of them shall be thine [the officiating priests], as the wave breast and as the right shoulder are thine. 18:19 All the heave offerings of the holy things, which the children of Israel offer unto the LORD, have I given thee, and thy sons and thy daughters with thee, by a statute for ever: it is a covenant of salt for ever before the LORD unto thee and to thy seed with thee.
The priests shall have no land, for God is their inheritance; the priests are to fully trust in God to provide for them.
18:20 And the LORD spake unto Aaron, Thou shalt have no inheritance in their land, neither shalt thou have any part among them: I am thy part and thine inheritance among the children of Israel.
The priests are to be supported by the sacrifices; and the tithe is to be given exclusively to the Levites who assist the priests and the Levites are to tithe of the tithe to the High Priest for the daily and national sacrifices.
18:21 And, behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tenth in Israel for an inheritance, for their service which they serve, even the service of the tabernacle of the congregation.
Israel is warned to keep away from the tabernacles and let the priests and Levites do their jobs.
18:22 Neither must the children of Israel henceforth come nigh the tabernacle of the congregation, lest they bear sin, and die.
The inheritance of the Levites is the tithe of the people; they shall have no other inheritance in Israel.
18:23 But the Levites shall do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation, and they shall bear their iniquity: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations, that among the children of Israel they have no inheritance. 18:24 But the tithes of the children of Israel, which they offer as an heave offering unto the LORD, I have given to the Levites to inherit: therefore I have said unto them, Among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance.
The Levites are to take a tenth from the people and are then to give a tenth of what they received to the priests.
18:25 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 18:26 Thus speak unto the Levites, and say unto them, When ye take of the children of Israel the tithes which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then ye shall offer up an heave offering of it for the LORD, even a tenth part of the tithe. 18:27 And this your heave offering shall be reckoned unto you, as though it were the corn of the threshingfloor, and as the fulness of the winepress. 18:28 Thus ye also shall offer an heave offering unto the LORD of all your tithes, which ye receive of the children of Israel; and ye shall give thereof the LORD’s heave offering to Aaron the priest.
The Levites are also to share with the priests whatever gifts that they receive above the tithes of the people.
18:29 Out of all your gifts ye shall offer every heave offering of the LORD, of all the best thereof, even the hallowed part thereof out of it. 18:30 Therefore thou shalt say unto them, When ye have heaved the best thereof from it, then it shall be counted unto the Levites as the increase of the threshingfloor, and as the increase of the winepress.
The Levites may eat the tithe and gifts anywhere and need not eat them in the tabernacle.
18:31 And ye shall eat it in every place, ye and your households: for it is your reward for your service in the tabernacle of the congregation.
The priests shall not sin in desiring more than their share [tithe of the tithe] from the Levites, for they have been given the meat of the various offerings. Neither shall the priests take for themselves any holy thing.
18:32 And ye shall bear no sin by reason of it, when ye have heaved from it the best of it: neither shall ye pollute the holy things of the children of Israel, lest ye die.
The Red Heifer
For non cattle people a heifer is a virgin cow, usually under two years old.
The Red Heifer shall be killed before the high priest outside the camp, as Christ was killed outside the city; and wholly burnt with cedar wood, and hyssop, and with scarlet cast into the fire.
The redness of this heifer being typical of the red of the blood of Christ shed for us; the red heifer being of the cattle kind, was typical of strength and patient service, while its virginity was representative of total loyalty. These things of Christ as an example of what WE should be.
The burning of the whole heifer representing serving the God the Father whole heartedly, the cedar to be burnt and to rise up as a sweet smelling smoke, typical of the service of Christ as a very sweet and acceptable thing to God the Father, and scarlet typical of the shed blood of Christ, and the hyssop typical of the cleansing quality of the sacrifice of Christ.
Numbers 19:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, 19:2 This is the ordinance of the law which the LORD hath commanded, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring thee a red heifer without spot, wherein is no blemish, and upon which never came yoke:
The yoke of men here being typical of the yoke of the bondage of sin; therefore never having been yoked was representative of Jesus Christ who was without any sin.
19:3 And ye shall give her unto Eleazar the priest, that he may bring her forth without the camp, and one shall slay her before his face: 19:4 And Eleazar the priest shall take of her blood with his finger, and sprinkle of her blood directly before the tabernacle of the congregation seven times: 19:5 And one shall burn the heifer in his sight; her skin, and her flesh, and her blood, with her dung, shall he burn: 19:6 And the priest shall take cedar wood, and hyssop, and scarlet, and cast it into the midst of the burning of the heifer.
The red heifer took on itself the uncleanness of the world, as Jesus Christ took upon himself the sin and uncleanness of the world. Therefore the high priest and everyone involved in the killing and the burning of this heifer was unclean and must be washed and remain unclean until the sun set.
19:7 Then the priest shall wash his clothes, and he shall bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp, and the priest shall be unclean until the even. 19:8 And he that burneth her shall wash his clothes in water, and bathe his flesh in water, and shall be unclean until the even.
The ashes are then to be gathered up by a clean person and shall be used as a cleansing from uncleanness.
19:9 And a man that is clean shall gather up the ashes of the heifer, and lay them up without the camp in a clean place, and it shall be kept for the congregation of the children of Israel for a water of separation: it is a purification for sin.
The clean ash gatherer’s shall be unclean by their contact with the ashes.
19:10 And he that gathereth the ashes of the heifer shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: and it shall be unto the children of Israel, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among them, for a statute for ever.
Uncleanness by contact with a dead person
Death being the wages of sin, and all have sinned except Christ; contact with the dead is a type of contact and being made unclean by sin. The operative word here is DEATH.
Those who have become unclean by death are to cleanse themselves with the ashes of the red heifer mixed with water on the third and seventh days.
This cleansing on the third and seventh day’s, and being made clean at the END of the seventh day. While the beginning of the eighth day, represents a new beginning for the person, cleansed by Christ from the uncleanness of sin.
At the END of the seventh day of Tabernacles; the Eighth Day Feast represents all changed humanity going forward into eternity with all uncleanness and sin, and even death itself being destroyed.
19:11 He that toucheth the dead body of any man shall be unclean seven days. 19:12 He shall purify himself with it [the ashes of the red heifer mixed with water] on the third day, and on the seventh day he shall be clean: but if he purify not himself the third day, then the seventh day he shall not be clean.
Here we see that Christ calls the converted human person; “the tabernacle of the LORD”; revealing the prophetic nature of this ritual.
The red heifer was an allegory of the need to apply the sacrifice of Christ [the ashes mixed with water]; the ashes representing Jesus Christ the ultimate sacrifice for all our sin and uncleanness, and the water, typical of the Spirit and Word of God, which makes us clean by replacing our sin with the righteousness of living by every Word of God.
Ephesians 5:25 . . . even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 5:27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
Only those having their uncleanness of sin which brings death, atoned for by sincere repentance and the sacrifice of Christ and who then go and sin no more, being washed clean by the application of the sacrifice of Christ and the water of the zealous keeping of the whole Word of God; shall be wholly clean and acceptable as a part of the congregation of the bride in the resurrection to eternity.
Numbers 19:13 Whosoever toucheth the dead body of any man that is dead, and purifieth not himself, defileth the tabernacle of the LORD; and that soul shall be cut off from Israel: because the water of separation was not sprinkled upon him, he shall be unclean; his uncleanness is yet upon him.
Any and ALL association with those who have reaped the wages of sin [death]; MUST be atoned for; for NO uncleanness or sin, or being polluted by any association with evil, will be permitted in the resurrection. Those who claim that it is godly Christ-like love to tolerate sin: are LIARS!
We are to be zealous to prove every word of men, and are to reject anything that is not consistent with every Word of God. No one who tolerates a diversity of doctrine, uncleanness or sin; will be in the resurrection to spirit!
Jesus Christ here condemns any association with death [which is the wages of sin and compromise with the Word of God], and requires cleansing atonement for this uncleanness, which is typical of all uncleanness of sin in the spiritual sense.
19:14 This is the law, when a man dieth in a tent: all that come into the tent, and all that is in the tent, shall be unclean seven days. 19:15 And every open vessel, which hath no covering bound upon it, is unclean. 19:16 And whosoever toucheth one that is slain with a sword in the open fields, or a dead body, or a bone of a man, or a grave, shall be unclean seven days.

A clean person is to mix the ashes with running water [living as opposed to stagnant (dead) water], and sprinkled with a branch of hyssop [a plant with cleaning properties]; sprinkling the unclean person and things on the third and seventh days.
The clean person doing the sprinkling then also becomes unclean, and must himself wash and remain unclean until the evening [sunset].
Then the person and things unclean for seven days, and shall be clean at sunset ending the seventh day and have a new beginning on the eighth day.
19:17 And for an unclean person they shall take of the ashes of the burnt heifer of purification for sin, and running water shall be put thereto in a vessel: 19:18 And a clean person shall take hyssop, and dip it in the water, and sprinkle it upon the tent, and upon all the vessels, and upon the persons that were there, and upon him that touched a bone, or one slain, or one dead, or a grave: 19:19 And the clean person shall sprinkle upon the unclean on the third day, and on the seventh day: and on the seventh day he shall purify himself, and wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and shall be clean at even.
If a person does not sincerely repent and seek the cleansing of Jesus Christ to be applied to him; he is cut off from God. Anyone who idolizes men to do his own ways, and is not zealous to live by every Word of God, will reap the wages of his sin and will be cut off from Jesus Christ and God the Father.
19:20 But the man that shall be unclean, and shall not purify [spiritually: sincerely repent] himself, that soul shall be cut off from among the congregation, because he hath defiled the sanctuary of the LORD: the water of separation hath not been sprinkled upon him; he is unclean.
19:21 And it shall be a perpetual statute unto them, that he that sprinkleth the water of separation shall wash his clothes; and he that toucheth the water of separation shall be unclean until even.
This teaching absolutely prohibits any tolerance of the spiritual uncleanness of diverse doctrines; and of the willfully sinful among the assemblies of the called out.
19:22 And whatsoever the unclean person toucheth shall be unclean; and the soul that toucheth it shall be unclean until even.
