We were made by God and we NEED to God teach us the way to live, God loves us and has given us the wisdom of his Word and Law to direct us into the way that brings eternal life. We need to seek understanding from the one who made us.
119:73 Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments.
Those dedicated to God will rejoice when God teaches them the Word of life eternal. The zealous will also rejoice when they have leaders and elders who are filled with enthusiasm for God and his Word; and teach the Word to the faithful.
The job of an elder is to teach zeal for all of God’s commandment, teachings [precepts, doctrine] and judgments; and NOT to organize sports events or even the Feast; organizing events is a job for deacons, so that elders will have time for study and meditate on God and his Word!
119:74 They that fear thee will be glad when they see me; because I have hoped in thy word.
God’s correction is just and is for the purpose of saving the spirit by afflicting the flesh.
This thinking that a terrible Assyria or enemy is to attack us because we are so righteous is just plain garbage. Yes, they are evil, as all men are sinful; but we are NOT righteous except in our own eyes.
God is all powerful and he will allow us to be corrected for our own wickedness, and to make that absolutely plain God is giving a solid warning and then will ask us to make our choice to heed the warning or face correction.
If any of the Ekklesia are in the tribulation, it will be OUR OWN FAULT; for we have been thoroughly warned.
If we are so afflicted, let us rejoice in that affliction, because it means that God loves us and is working to save us and bring us to repentance and a true zeal for God and respect for his judgments.
119:75 I know, O Lord, that thy judgments are right, and that thou in faithfulness hast afflicted [corrected] me.
When we have learned our lesson and have sincerely repented, be merciful to us oh LORD.
119:76 Let, I pray thee, thy merciful kindness be for my comfort, according to thy word unto thy servant.
119:77 Let thy tender mercies come unto me, that I may live: for thy law is my delight.
Let those too proud to repent and who afflict the faithful, be ashamed for their works which will come to nothing. Let the faithful meditate on the teachings of God’s Word always and be zealous for God with all our beings.
119:78 Let the proud be ashamed; for they dealt perversely with me without a cause: but I will meditate in thy precepts.
Let the hearts of the called out understand the examples of scripture, and be established on the commandments and statutes of our God.
119:79 Let those that fear thee turn unto me, and those that have known thy testimonies.
119:80 Let my heart be sound [remain always firm]in thy statutes; that I be not ashamed.
Speaking prophetically of the sacrifice of Christ, we long for deliverance from sin, and our only hope is in the Word [promises of scripture] of God.
119:81 My soul fainteth for thy salvation: but I hope in thy word.
We wait for the Kingdom of God, fainting for its distance in coming. God will comfort thy people with thy Kingdom of righteousness when wickedness shall be destroyed from off the earth.
119:82 Mine eyes fail for thy word, saying, When wilt thou comfort me?
In this world we are distressed as we wait in anxious expectation for our deliverance and the kingdom of God.
119:83 For I am become like a bottle in the smoke [the faithful are broken and shattered to contrition under the yoke of oppressors]; yet do I not forget thy statutes.
In this life the zealous for God are persecuted and suffer oppression even from their fellows. When will God complete the process and bring judgment on the wicked and righteousness to all the earth in his Kingdom?
Our lives are very short, deliver us speedily.
119:84 How many are the days of thy servant? when wilt thou execute judgment on them that persecute me?
Those who are not zealous for the Word and Law of God have dug pits and laid snares for the faithful, to try and turn the zealous away from their wholehearted zeal for godliness; but their persecution only makes the zealous even more zealous and closer to God, while sifting out the faithless.
119:85 The proud have digged pits for me, which are not after thy law.
The zealous will be strong for their God and will run to their Mighty One to save them in their trials. He will help them and they shall rejoice in God’s law and teachings.
119:86 All thy commandments are faithful: they persecute me wrongfully; help thou me.
The faithful of God will never wilfully – knowingly turn from his commandments and teachings. Those enthusiastic for God will be almost destroyed from off the earth before the coming of our Lord with his just judgments, yet the faithful will never forsake the teachings of their LORD even unto death itself.
119:87 They had almost consumed me upon earth; but I forsook not thy precepts.
For that reason the faithfully zealous for every Word of God and all of the commandments, judgments and teaching of the Mighty One of Jacob shall be quickened to life, and shall rise up in a change into spirit, and shall be chosen to rule and teach the Word and Law of God to all of humanity in the Kingdom of God!
It is those who are faithfully zealous for God and ALL his ways trough the sufferings and persecutions of this life; that will be qualified to teach those things in the Kingdom!
Just as Jesus Christ learned through the things that he suffered, and being faithful to the Father in all things, qualified to be our eternal High Priest and the Ruler of the Kingdom of God on the earth.
119:88 Quicken me after thy lovingkindness; so shall I keep the testimony of thy mouth.
The Word of God is forever
119:89 For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven. 119:90 Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the earth, and it abideth. 119:91 They continue [the heavens and earth remain] this day according to thine ordinances: for all are thy servants [God controls everything].
We must enthusiastically delight in God’s Word and live by it fully; to have life eternal.
119:92 Unless thy law had been my delights, I should then have perished in mine affliction. 119:93 I will never forget thy precepts: for with them thou hast quickened [made me live] me.
God will save those who are zealous for his Word and Law.
119:94 I am thine, save me: for I have sought thy precepts.
The faithful will learn from the examples of scripture and avoid the pitfalls of the enemy who seeks alternately to destroy us with persecutions and then with temptations into sin.
119:95 The wicked have waited [set an ambush] for me to destroy me: but I will consider thy testimonies.
All beautiful physical things will end, but the Word and commandments of God will continue forever.
119:96 I have seen an end of all perfection: but thy commandment is exceeding broad [great].
