The Two Great Commandments
Jesus summed up the Ten Commandments and the whole law in Mark 12 and Matthew 22
Mark 12:28 And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?
12:29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: 12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
Matthew 22:36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 22:38 This is the first and great commandment.
22:39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
22:40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
The Two Great Commandments sum up the Ten Commandments which teach us to love God and to love mankind, and the additional laws and instructions amplify and explain How to keep the core Ten Commandments. Additionally certain laws teach us how to better live a godly life and God’s perfect plan of Salvation through the Festival, sacrificial and clean and unclean laws.
ALL of these commandments and laws are the mind and nature of God in print, and all of them are to be obeyed and internalized in both the physical and spiritual sense, so that we can internalize the mind and nature of God.
The Ten Commandments
Brethren, we re all familiar with the commandments as they apply physically, my purpose in this article is to bring out the spiritual applications of the physical law.
The Ten Commandments are listed in Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5. For the purpose of this study I will place the commandments from both lists together.
The Eternal is the God who has brought us out of spiritual bondage to sin!
Deuteronomy 5:1 And Moses called all Israel, and said unto them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in your ears this day, that ye may learn them, and keep, and do them.
5:2 The LORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb [Sinai]. 5:3 The LORD made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day.
5:4 The LORD talked with you face to face in the mount out of the midst of the fire, 5:5 (I stood between the LORD and you at that time, to shew you the word of the LORD: for ye were afraid by reason of the fire, and went not up into the mount;) saying,
The law was written in tables of stone to show that these people were hardhearted and lacking in God’s Spirit. Those called into the New Covenant are to have the same laws written on the tables of their hearts and the law of God will become a part of our very natures.
Jeremiah 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day [in the season] that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the Lord:
31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Ezekiel 36:24 For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.
36:25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. 36:26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. 36:27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
36:28 And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.
Today we have become lax, forgetting our Covenant and have departed from God, becoming hearers of the law and NOT doers, doing what we think is right instead of what God has commanded.
Only those who DO the will of God, who sincerely repent of past sin and commit to go forward living by every Word of God in future will be justified through the application of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God.
Romans 2:13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.
The Husband of Israel, to whom Israel had pledged obedience, THUNDERED his basic will from mount Sinai to his collective bride!
Exodus 20:1 And God spake all these words, saying, 20:2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
We are not to allow anything to come between us and our God; no, not family, or church organizations, or elders, or friends; nor money nor any temptation to do any sin, nor fear of any threat against us!
1) Ye Shall Have No Other gods
Exodus 20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
Deuteronomy 5:6 I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage. 5:7 Thou shalt have none other gods before me.
What is our God? Our God is the one that we obey above all else, for it is written:
Romans 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
Jesus said: John 8:34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
For salvation comes only to those who Obey God: Hebrews 5:9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;
The word “worship” means to serve, to obey. If we therefore allow any thing to come between us and god so that we follow after that thing instead of living by every Word of God: We have exalted that thing above the Eternal God and have made it our god.
Will we pollute the Sabbath to keep a job by working on the Sabbath contrary to the Word of God? Then that job has become our god in place of the Eternal. Do we eat the unclean thing so as not to offend others? Then we have exalted others above the Eternal and made them our god. Do we follow men who teach falsely to remain in good standing in some social club church organization? Then we have exalted that organization above the Eternal and we have made that organization, its teachers and our social lives; our god!
2) Ye Shall Not Bow to Idols
Exodus 20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; 20:6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
Deuteronomy 5:8 Thou shalt not make thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth:
5:9 Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me,
5:10 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.
This commandments prohibits religious icons in any form. No object is to be reverenced in any way. The Eternal alone is God and beside him there is no other.
Some might say that they are using the object to help them worship the Eternal. This is sin, for worship means to obey; therefore to properly worship the Eternal we must worship him in the manner which he himself commands, and not as we decide we should do.
3) Thou Shalt not Take the Name of God in Vain
Exodus 20:7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
Deuteronomy 5:11 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain: for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
Taking God’s name in vain refers to a wrong and disrespectful use of the name of God or the term “God”. It also refers to making God’s Word vain by teaching falsehood or by not living by every Word of God.
The concept embraces not only speaking disrespectfully but also speaking falsely or insincerely.
What is “vain” about the forbidden speech has much to do with an inward disposition of the mind. To speak the Lord’s name, is to wrap yourself in the divine mantle, to use God in support of our own purposes. If one claims to be one of God’s people and behaves wrongly not living by every Word of God, they are besmirching and misusing the name of God.
We take his name in vain every time that we lie saying that we love God and then refuse to live by every Word of God. We take his name in vain every time we call ourselves the church [people] of God and then bring disgrace on his ways by our evil doing. We take God’s name in vain every time that we pray “Thy will be done” and then rise to do as we want and not as God’s Word teaches us.
4) Remember and Keep The Weekly Sabbath Day
20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 20:9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: 20:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that [anyone that you are responsible for] is within thy gates: 20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Deuteronomy 5:12 Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee.
5:13 Six days thou shalt labour, and do all thy work:
5:14 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou.
5:15 And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt [to serve Pharaoh in harsh bondage seven days a week], and that the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the LORD thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day.
We are NOT to do any work of any kind [except for that specifically permitted or commanded by God], and we are NOT to be responsible for anyone else working on any weekly Sabbath or Holy Day. We are not to become hypocrites by paying others to do what we on moral grounds would not do ourselves, and we are NOT to become thieves by stealing the opportunity for others to have their rest and time with God. We are to allow them the time even if they do not use it wisely.
We are to use the preparation day for all our cooking and work and to rest on God’s Holy Sabbaths and Holy High Day’s spending time with our Creator, learning of him and teaching our families. Today the vast majority of people in the Church of God call the Sabbath Day holy and then routinely pollute them, breaking this commandment in a regular and flagrant manner. For a detailed study on the Sabbath day and Biblical Calendar visit the articles at the Sabbath Calendar Category.
They also postpone annual Sabbaths for their own convenience. Now consider that if it is lawful to postpone God’s set annual Sabbaths, why not also postpone the weekly Sabbath? I speak as a fool; for it is NOT LAWFUL to postpone God’s weekly Sabbath to Sunday, and it is NOT LAWFUL to postpone God’s annual Sabbaths either!
5) Honor Thy Father and Mother
Exodus 20:12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
Deuteronomy 5:16 Honour thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
First and foremost we are to honour God our Father in heaven, by enthusiastically learning and living by his every Word (Mat 4:4). We are to honour our physical parents [and the same is true of elders and church organizations] ONLY as they honour God our Father in heaven!
We break this commandment by not honouring God our Father in heaven above all else, and by giving excessive offerings and not properly care for our parents and the families that God has blessed us with (Mat 15).
6) Thou Shalt Not Kill
Exodus 20:13 Thou shalt not kill.
Deuteronomy 5:17 Thou shalt not kill.
This is a poor translation of the Hebrew 7523. ratsach, the word kill refers to murder, the shedding of innocent blood.
Our authorities and governments are commanded to kill the wicked.
Yet, in the Ekklesia we do commit murder; and you ask, how do we murder?
Because, when we fail to teach people to live by every Word of God, and worse when we condemn any person who is zealous to live by every Word of God, persecuting and attacking them, trying to turn them away from their zeal for godliness, we are attempting to murder God’s faithful on an eternal spiritual level.
Further, if we teach our children [by our words and example] to follow organizational idols and the false traditions of men in place of any zeal to live by every Word of God, we are leading them to spiritual destruction which is murder on an eternal spiritual level.
7) Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery
Exodus 20:14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.
Deuteronomy 5:18 Neither shalt thou commit adultery.
Physical adultery is physical disloyalty to one’s spouse, and physical adultery is a type of emotional and spiritual disloyalty against our spouse.
Physically, if we love another more than we love our spouse – and this wrong disloyal love may not necessarily be sexual, but could be simply loving anyone more than our spouse – we are committing emotional adultery, which is a very common sin today. A big example of this is spouses loving their former parents or brothers and sisters – more than they love their spouses. Forbidding adultery, both physical and emotional, is actually saying that we should not love and exalt others above our spouses either sexually or emotionally.
On the spiritual level, the law forbidding adultery means that we are not to love and exalt any other above our espoused spirit Husband Jesus Christ and his Father in Heaven.
Spiritually, today’s Church of God Ekklesia commits adultery daily against our espoused Husband; by exalting others in our hearts above his Word. That is emotional and spiritual adultery.
How would you feel if you spouse loved others more than he/she loved you?
Today the spiritual Ekklesia break this commandment daily as we exalt our elders and organizations above God’s Word. Often excusing our sins by saying “the church, or teacher, said it was alright”: like hiring a catered meal on a Sabbath or High Day even though God’s Word forbids it
This IS idolatry of the organization or human leader who teaches such wickedness, and it is spiritual ADULTERY against the Husband of our calling; and we will NOT be held guiltless before the Husband of our baptismal commitment.
8) Thou Shalt Not Steal
Exodus 20:15 Thou shalt not steal.
Deuteronomy 5:19 Neither shalt thou steal.
We are to take nothing which belongs to others and which we have no right to take.
Steal? Do we not steal what is God’s for ourselves. We steal his time on His Sabbath and Holy Days. The elders make merchandise of God’s flock and use his sheep for their own advantage. They try to steal our crowns by leading us away from exalting God into exalting themselves.
9) Thou Shalt Not Bear False Witness
Exodus 20:16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
Deuteronomy 5:20 Neither shalt thou bear false witness against thy neighbour.
Lying is the deliberately telling of something which we KNOW is not true; this is quite different from an honest mistake in saying or writing what we sincerely understand to be true, but which is unintentionally inaccurate.
We are not to lie, which is to deliberately write or speak falsehoods, and if we do make a mistake we should correct it as soon as the error is pointed out.
On the other hand a person who discovers an error has a personal responsibility to correct the error, and if he does not do so; he is personally responsible for the inaccuracy by allowing it to continue.
To witness falsely, can be the telling of outright lies, or it can be taking true points out of context to make them seem to mean the opposite of what they were intended to mean. Or it can be subtle twists of the truth to deceive.
False witnessing is to be deceitful, to deceive about anything, and the truth can be used to deceive.
10) Thou Shalt Not Covet
Exodus 20:17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.
Deuteronomy 5:21 Neither shalt thou desire thy neighbour’s wife, neither shalt thou covet [unlawfully desire] thy neighbour’s house, his field, or his manservant, or his maidservant, his ox, or his ass, or any thing that is thy neighbour’s.
Deuteronomy 5:22 These words the LORD spake unto all your assembly in the mount out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice: and he added no more. And he wrote them in two tables of stone, and delivered them unto me.
Covet means to unlawfully desire. If you want something belonging to another then offer to buy it lawfully and if the answer is no, then give it up and do not dwell on your desire which has become unlawful. To dwell on an unlawful desire leads to the sin of stealing.
A graphic lesson in coveting is the story of Ahab and Naboth
1 Kings 21
Jezebel was a priestess of the fertility religion of baal.
The story of Ahab and Jezebel carries many lessons for us today.
1. Do not knowingly marry unconverted persons.
2. Be alert and avoid pagan influences within the assemblies; like the Nicolaitane pyramid men between the brethren and God, satanic governance system.
3. Do not exalt any person or organization to make idols of them in our hearts, do not follow anyone contrary to the whole Word of God, no matter what title they apply to themselves to deceive.
4. Do not covet what is not lawful for you to have, which coveting leads to stealing and great sin.
After being delivered from the Syrians Ahab adds to his sins. Ahab led the people into idol worship and fornication and selfish abused his power. Today’s Ekklesia has done the same thing, being about the leaders leading the brethren into exalting themselves [idol worship and spiritual fornication] and about the abuse of power.
1 Kings 21:1 And it came to pass after these things, that Naboth the Jezreelite had a vineyard, which was in Jezreel, hard by the palace of Ahab king of Samaria.
Ahab did begin by offering a legal solution through payment, but Naboth not fearing the king rejected the offer. Naboth exercised his godly right and Ahab should have accepted that and let the matter go, instead he unlawfully desired [coveted] the field of Naboth. This is a classic story illustrating the meaning of coveting.
21:2 And Ahab spake unto Naboth, saying, Give me thy vineyard, that I may have it for a garden of herbs, because it is near unto my house: and I will give thee for it a better vineyard than it; or, if it seem good to thee, I will give thee the worth of it in money. 21:3 And Naboth said to Ahab, The LORD forbid it me, that I should give the inheritance of my fathers unto thee.
Ahab was most displeased and this was about more than the field, he would have been outraged that a mere commoner would dare to defy the king. This issue for Ahab was about coveting and was also about self importance and the domination game. Seem familiar?
21:4 And Ahab came into his house heavy and displeased because of the word which Naboth the Jezreelite had spoken to him: for he had said, I will not give thee the inheritance of my fathers. And he laid him down upon his bed, and turned away his face, and would eat no bread.
Jezebel [false religion] leads the king into sin; her advice being the selfishness of sin and contrary to the commandments of God.
21:5 But Jezebel his wife came to him, and said unto him, Why is thy spirit so sad, that thou eatest no bread? 21:6 And he said unto her, Because I spake unto Naboth the Jezreelite, and said unto him, Give me thy vineyard for money; or else, if it please thee, I will give thee another vineyard for it: and he answered, I will not give thee my vineyard.
Notice that it is Jezebel who writes these letters, but Ahab allows her to do so in his name.
21:7 And Jezebel his wife said unto him, Dost thou now govern the kingdom of Israel? arise, and eat bread, and let thine heart be merry: I will give thee the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite. 21:8 So she wrote letters in Ahab’s name, and sealed them with his seal, and sent the letters unto the elders and to the nobles that were in his city, dwelling with Naboth.
Again Jezebel wrote these things, but Ahab allowed her to write them in the kings name.
21:9 And she wrote in the letters, saying, Proclaim a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people: 21:10 And set two men, sons of Belial, before him, to bear witness against him, saying, Thou didst blaspheme God and the king. And then carry him out, and stone him, that he may die.
Then the people did as they were instructed. Did even one resist this evil? Even so most of today’s brethren follow idols of man, false teachings and organizations as their leaders teach them, and are led away from any zeal to live by every Word of God.
21:11 And the men of his city, even the elders and the nobles who were the inhabitants in his city, did as Jezebel had sent unto them, and as it was written in the letters which she had sent unto them.
They did as they were told, even as the called out to God brethren today, do what men tell them and not live according to every Word of God. They shun the righteous to support the idols of men, and even try to spiritually destroy the righteous, by attempting to force them to exalt the idols of men and false traditions.
21:12 They proclaimed a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people. 21:13 And there came in two men, children of Belial, and sat before him: and the men of Belial witnessed against him, even against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, Naboth did blaspheme God and the king. Then they carried him forth out of the city, and stoned him with stones, that he died.
Then the brethren reported to their idol that they had obeyed and killed Naboth, typical of the wicked brethren in the Ekklesia today who persecute the righteous.
21:14 Then they sent to Jezebel, saying, Naboth is stoned, and is dead.
21:15 And it came to pass, when Jezebel heard that Naboth was stoned, and was dead, that Jezebel said to Ahab, Arise, take possession of the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, which he refused to give thee for money: for Naboth is not alive, but dead. 21:16 And it came to pass, when Ahab heard that Naboth was dead, that Ahab rose up to go down to the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, to take possession of it.
Then the one who became Jesus Christ sent Elijah to speak to Ahab. God will soon send his two prophets [who I think are types of Moses and Elijah] to warn today’s Ekklesia one last time.
21:17 And the word of the LORD came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying, 21:18 Arise, go down to meet Ahab king of Israel, which is in Samaria: behold, he is in the vineyard of Naboth, whither he is gone down to possess it.
God tells Elijah what to say, for Elijah as a prophet spoke only what God has told him to say. God condemns Ahab to death for his murder of Naboth, and God condemns to death in great tribulation all those leaders and elders who spiritually murder those in their care by teaching them and leading them away from any zeal to live by every Word of God.
21:19 And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith the LORD, Hast thou killed, and also taken possession? And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith the LORD, In the place where dogs licked the blood of Naboth shall dogs lick thy blood, even thine.
When Elijah arrives; Ahab calls Elijah his enemy; this because Ahab rejected the commandments of God for his idols and his own ways.
21:20 And Ahab said to Elijah, Hast thou found me, O mine enemy?
Elijah then delivers the judgment of the Eternal. This is not Elijah’s judgment although he would have agreed being a man of God; This was the judgment of Almighty God!
The same judgment is about to be passed on today’s leaders and elders of the Ekklesia who deceive the people into idolizing men and turn the brethren away from any zeal to live by every Word of God (Rev 3:15).
And he [Elijah] answered, I have found thee: because thou hast sold thyself to work evil in the sight of the LORD. 21:21 Behold, I will bring evil upon thee, and will take away thy posterity, and will cut off from Ahab him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel, 21:22 And will make thine house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah, for the provocation wherewith thou hast provoked me to anger, and made Israel to sin.
Jezebel [all those who refuse to live by every Word of God] will also have their part in the bed of great tribulation.
21:23 And of Jezebel also spake the LORD, saying, The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel. 21:24 Him that dieth of Ahab in the city the dogs shall eat; and him that dieth in the field shall the fowls of the air eat.
We pride ourselves that we would not do as Ahab has done, while we do the very same things on a spiritual level. Ahab was a type of the latter day Laodicean church of God, and our extreme self righteousness and rebellion against the Word of God, to follow idols of men and false traditions. Therefore the unrepentant among us shall be vomited out of the body of Christ and cast into great tribulation.
21:25 But there was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the LORD, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up.
It is an ABOMINATION to God to follow idols of men and not exalt God above all else. It is an ABOMINATION to God to follow the words of men, contrary to living by every Word of God.
21:26 And he did very abominably in following idols, according to all things as did the Amorites, whom the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.
Ahab then repented and humbled himself before God. In the physical Mosaic Covenant God accepted Ahab’s repentance.
In our case; if we sincerely repent, God will also forgive us! I know that only a comparative few will sincerely repent now: I also know that the vast majority of the truly called out will repent in the correction of great tribulation and will then have a chance to enter the resurrection to spirit.
21:27 And it came to pass, when Ahab heard those words, that he rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his flesh, and fasted, and lay in sackcloth, and went softly.
21:28 And the word of the LORD came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying, 21:29 Seest thou how Ahab humbleth himself before me? because he humbleth himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days: but in his son’s days will I bring the evil upon his house.
Brethren, we re all familiar with the commandments as they apply physically, my purpose in this article is to bring out the spiritual applications of the physical law.
We must learn to live by every Word of God both physically and spiritually, in both the letter and also in the spirit and intent of the Word of God; rightly discerning the spiritual application of the law as well as its physical applications.
The job of the priest/kings of God’s first fruits is to set an example living by every Word of God, and teaching others to live by every Word of God; throughout eternity. We must learn to do that now or we will not be among the chosen to dwell in the New Jerusalem with God the Father and the Son.
Rod Meredith and the LCG have done an excellent job in their Ten Commandments article. They say all the right things and I highly recommend that their Ten Commandments article be read.
They say the right things but they fall short on the doing; replacing much of God’s Word with their own false traditions. They call the Sabbath holy and then walk all over it hiring workers and buying food and drink on God’s Sabbath day, and rejecting God’s Biblical Calendar for a humanly devised calendar which is completely contrary to scripture.
Right there in this article Rod says that organizations must NOT be exalted above the Word of God, and yet LCG insists that they be obeyed above the Word of God because they claim to have the authority to “bind and loose,” and to decide for the brethren what is right and wrong!
They are so close and still so far from godliness, their chief problem [which is epidemic throughout the entire Ekklesia]; is pride and self justification, which prevents them from growing spiritually or turning from error or false traditions, because they are always right in their own eyes.
Self justification prevents sincere repentance. And a refusal to sincerely repent; is the unpardonable sin.
God loves one and all and God is not willing that any should perish, therefore he will cast these organizations into severe tribulation so that by afflicting the flesh the spirit can be saved.
